Now that ME3 is out, this is probably the game I'm looking most forward to this year. The original game's developers are back and everything I've seen so far is really cool and interesting. Including this new enemy:

Heavy Hitters Part 1: Motorized Patriot

ROBOTIC GATLING GUN TOTING GEORGE WASHINGTON~!

Between this and Assassin's Creed 3, our first President is awesome.

Re: BioShock Infinite (October 16th)

Sucks for now, but I have no issues when a game gets delayed so that they can get it right.

So I only played like half of Bioshock and never played 2. Do you have to have played those to play this one or is it a whole new story?

The mechanics are the same, just under new terminology (Vigors instead of plasmids, etc.) but this actually takes place before the first 2 on the timeline. Bioshock 3 takes place in 1912, 1 takes place in 1960 (although Rapture has an art deco style of the mid 40's), 2 in 1968. No previous knowledge should be needed.

The first two are worth seeking out though right? For the PS3?

First Bioshock was awesome, and I think you get it with purchase of Infinite for the 3, don't you? Two was okay, but I thought the character was a bit...under powered. The Big Sisters were brutally difficult unless you managed to set up things just right. I did like the ending though. All in all, a definite "yes" for 1, and a tepid "if you can find it for cheap" for 2 from me.

I played a little bit of the first, none of the second yet. I held off on picking this up with the Best Buy $20 bonus promo that I usually do figuring I keep adding to my backlog and not playing, while I watched the first two drop drastically in price before getting to play.

Then I saw a trailer tonight and felt like I should get it. So conflicted but I'm trying to hold strong...

I caved and ordered my copy today. Everything I've read and seen just makes me want to play this right now.

The second one was made by a completely different team and is more of a side story since Irrational wanted nothing to do with a sequel at the time. Jeff said on the Bombcast that some things may resonate a bit more if you played the first, but it isn't essential.

The opening isn't quite as awesome as the original, but Irrational sure knows how to introduce a setting. Really enjoying the Vigor that launches enemies into the air and allows me to shotgun them down. Some of the melee kills are fucking brutal.

Oh, and pay attention to the organ music when you reach Battleship Bay.

The world and this game are both awesome. I'm halfway through and the story has slowed down a bit, but I can't stop playing.

Yeah, I think I just passed that part since things are picking back up again. I really would like to know how they tie all this together because I really don't know where the story is heading at this point.

I have no idea where it's going. More into it I go the crazier it gets.

Are you able to back track at all, or go back to previous sections to complete additional objectives? I assume you can't since the game asks you are you sure before moving on.

Yeah you can go back to previous areas.

ETA: Well, maybe only a certain distance. I'm in Finkton and don't know if I can go back to Soldier's Field if I wanted or not. Guess someone's who's finished would know for sure.

You can replay chapters from the menu. I know you can use that for collectibles at least.

This game has gotten...strange. Just finished Finktown and the "jumping" has left me a bit lost as to where exactly I am.
Am I in my third different dimension of Columbia? Or did I go back to my original timeline after the Lin machinery rescue attempt?

Plus, I was fighting a Handyman on a platform, had him worn out, and tried to finish him off with an RPG. The explosion blew him off the damn platform, costing me my reward and the Gear he drops. Asshole.

My biggest complaint is that the game is way to easy. The last battle was tough, but for reasons I can't say without spoiling it.

Will be fun discussing the ending when everyone finishes. I will say I only finished be because I thought I was at the end of the game multiple times.

Normal seems a bit easy for me too. The enemies themselves aren't difficult, it's when they throw a bunch of them at you is where any challenge comes from.

Things have gotten good for me.
Reaching Lady Comstock's tomb kicks off some crazy fucking shit. Finding the three tears should finally explain some of this.

I usually play games on normal the first time around, but I decided to start off at Hard difficulty. Presenting a decent challenge, but not frustrating.

Guess I'll start the ending discussion.

I so was ready for them to reveal that Columbia fell into the ocean and became Rapture. They don't outright say it isn't.

I think I'm in the camp that thinks Anna is in the crib at the very end. Booker being baptized by the Elizabeth's is Booker finally letting go of his past and breaking the loop he created.

This might be the single best thing to come out of the game, and that is not a statement I make lightly.
