Developer: From Software | Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Platform: PlayStation 4 | Release Date: March 24, 2015
Genre: Action-RPG | Modes: Single-player, Multi-player (Co-op)

Plot
The game takes place in the gothic, ruined city of Yharnam which is rumored to house a potent medical remedy. Over the years, many travelers make pilgrimages to the city seeking the remedy to cure their afflictions; the player takes the role as one of these travelers. Upon arriving in the city, however, it is discovered that the city is plagued with an endemic illness that has transformed most of its denizens into bestial creatures. The player must navigate the streets of Yharnam and overcome its violently deranged inhabitants and horrifying monsters in order to survive.

Gameplay
Bloodborne will feature action role-playing elements similar to those found in developer From Software's games Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. Combat is fast paced and requires an offensive approach in order for players to combat dense hordes of enemies. The player character is agile and is able to perform sweeping dashes around enemies while locked on. The new risk versus reward style of gameplay is emphasized through Bloodborne 's health regain system, which allows the player to, within a small window of time, recover portions of lost health by striking back at the player's attacker. Bloodborne as a game was described by Sony's Senior Community Manager as "Dark Souls with Shotguns"

Melee weapons can transform into two alternate states; each state encourages a different approach to combat. The cleaver, for example, in its initial state can be used to quickly dispatch enemies in cramped areas, but when transformed into its secondary state it becomes an extended blade more suited for crowd control. The player can also wield a firearm in their left hand that can be used to stun enemies, which can then be followed up with a critical attack from the player's melee weapon.

Saw a trailer for this game the other day when out to lunch with someone. I stopped talking to continue watching the audioless commercial.

Looks awesome. Have a feeling I am going to have to bug my friend with a PS4 to let me watch, which I never do.

People who get this post here so I can read.

I took a break on Dark Souls after about 30 unsuccessful runs against Ornstein and Smough. Unfortunately, the thing I took a break with was Hearthstone, which I eventually just dropped cold turkey because it was so all-consuming. Maybe I'll get back on the horse and finish it out.

I will say that I prefer the look of how this one plays. The slow movement and chess-speed combat in DS, at least when you're trying to figure out how everything works, is never really going to be my thing. And after sinking 30 hours into it, I wasn't exactly thrilled about starting over with a dexterity build.

For Canadians, Bloodborne is currently $10 cheaper on PSN than at retail, and possibly tax-free.

I'm reading it has framerate and loadtime issues that they are already working on a patch for. My copy was delivered today but I won't get a chance to try it out until late tonight.
