Has there ever been a greater and more authentically American rock and roll band?

Now here's a thread I can sink my teeth into!

I was going to go to Youtube and look up a bunch of Bon Jovi songs to post here, but then I realized I did that maybe a year or so ago, so I'll just quote that post in here. Let me go find it.

I just found the post and as it turns out it's from another Bon Jovi thread started by Byron. Oh well. Bon Jovi deserves multiple threads.

I'm going to use this thread to make a megapost of Bon Jovi songs that most of you haven't heard. These are all bangers IMO.

Bon Jovi - Breakout

Bon Jovi - Only Lonely

Without Love- Bon Jovi

BON JOVI Edge Of A Broken Heart

Bon Jovi - Hey God (Long Version)

Bon Jovi - The Radio Saved My Life Tonight

You know it's kind of surprising as huge of a fan I am of '70s and '80s arena rock, I only became a fan of Bon Jovi in the past six months. I always thought they were watered down hair metal (which was a watered down genre in the first place) but then I realized they were just a very slightly amped up version of the corporate rockers of the late '70s/early '80s that I love (Journey, Boston, et al).

Byron, have you listened to Slippery When Wet in full? If not, get on it. I think every song on there was a potential hit single except for "Social Disease" which sucks and should have been replaced by "Edge of a Broken Heart" (not the same as the Vixen song) which was recorded during the Slippery sessions and dropped off on the soundtrack of the Fat Boys vehicle Disorderlies.

And Kamala is right. They fit in much more with 70s arena rock than with the Motley Crues and Poisons of the world. Their first couple of albums just sound like Journey and Foreigner, before they brought in Desmond Child to give them the big choruses they couldn't quite come up with themselves.

I would go over to my friend's place, he would get drunk, put this Blu-ray in and reach his hand out to the screen. This happened about once a week for a while. I hate Bon Jovi (except Livin' on a Prayer and Bad Medicine, I can live with those).

It's true now I get signatures with commie shit like "Season's greetings". The government has gone too far infringing on our right to worship!

Bon Jovi is definitely a great band and Jon Bon Jovi's solo stuff is awesome as well. My older sister had a cultish love for Jon Bon Jovi growing up and I wish I would have spent more time enjoying his music instead of trolling her saying stupid shit about the group.

"Living on a Prayer" is my favorite song, but he has so many other good songs that could be favorite #2a, 2b, 2c, etc...
