Don’t get R. Kelly mad, or he might just stalk off in search of a McRib.
The R&B titan – and part-time Atlanta resident – sat down with Huff Post Live today to promote his new album, “The Buffet.”
But about 10 minutes into the interview, Kelly took exception to the perfectly reasonable questions being asked by host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani, which led to the pair getting into a debate about being disrespectful.
“I’m here to have a great time,” Kelly said. “I didn’t come here to spoil that.”
When Modarressy-Tehrani brought up his varied fan base – those who still adore him and those who say they stopped listening to him after a series of sex crime allegations – Kelly retorted, “I don’t care who they are. Whether they hate me or love me or want to destroy me or whatever. I love them all, and I love you too,”
(Modarressy-Tehrani, for the record, did not seem interested in Kelly’s love.)
But Kelly wasn’t done.
“I don’t give people who are negative toward me the time of day… any other negative things come at me out of your mouth as far as negativity, if anything negative, I’m going to get up, I’m going to walk out and go to McDonald’s, hopefully the McRib is out, and I’m going to go home to Chicago and play me some basketball and go to the studio and work on my next album,” he said, before plucking off his mic and heading off camera.
We talked to Kelly when he was in town in May.
Good thing the McRib doesn’t come out until fall.
