I occasionally put on this album, hoping that this time will be the time it clicks. It never does. Title track is dope, though:

Daft Punk - Human After All

Any fans of this, the least-loved Daft Punk record?

I haven't listened to this one in four or five years but it's definitely my least favorite of their three studio and I haven't listened it to a hundredth as much as their first two albums.

I'm hype for their next album since every collaborator they announce seems more out of left field than the last. I mean, who the fuck would think Paul Williams would appear on a Daft Punk album? Or any album released in the year 2013 (knock on wood)?

Yeah, I'm in the camp of this being the least favorite album, but it's still solid overall. I also say that they've done, probably, the best score for a movie in at least 10 years.

Sure. "Digital Love" never fails to put me in a good mood.

"Voyager" is a tremendous atmospheric piece. It never really goes anywhere and builds like a calm sea tide.

Human After All was a disappointment when it came out and hasn't improved with time very much if at all. It lacks any kind of stand-out moments like "Aerodynamic" where the guitar just goes off on its own and the variety in the tracks is a step backwards from previous efforts. I remember being shocked at the time how a sameness permeated the whole thing considering Discovery is all over the place and has something for everyone. "Human After All" is really the only standout track so I think of this album like a greatly expanded single. Frankly, they made such a fucking amazing album prior to this that it was impossible to top and unfortunately whiffed completely at the same time.

Robot Rock is definitely in my top 10 if not top 5 Daft Punk songs. But yeah, the rest of the album doesn't have as much standout stuff on it.
Interested to see what they new album brings, the collaborators are very interesting (particularly excited for Niles Rogers). I'm a little apprehensive though, obviously the Tron Soundtrack was intended to be a film score and shouldn't be judged in the same way as their other work, however Derezzed was closest to their original material yet sounded like generic club electro from the time (in fact I think it sounds suspiciously like this which knowing the circles they move in DP would have almost definitely have heard whilst working on the soundtrack)

Really hope that the new album means a new live show which I will do my absolute best to attend (as long as theres one or two dates in Europe shouldn't be an issue). Alive 2007 looked like something else, gutted never went to see it..
