Possibly my favorite band of all time. Maybe even more so than KISS. Those two and the Beatles are definitely my Top Three, I think.

Inspired by listening to Surf's Up for the first time in years. What a weird ass, depressing album. So many god damn weird/terrible moments but some of their best tunes on it. I think the period between Wild Honey and Surf's Up when Brian was going increasingly insane is my favorite era of the band. There's a fair amount of chaff in that period but man, the wheat is great.

My favorite Beach Boys album ever though is one of their late '70s comeback albums, Love You where it was clear that Brian totally had lost it and the other members just sort of went along with it.

Actually, I'm listening to Carl and the Passions---So Tough right now. Real mixed bag album but the opening track and three of the last four tracks make it worth listening to.
