I see Kraftwerk is still disavowing the existence of s/t1, 2, and Ralf und Florian. They're not great albums, no, as they still hadn't figured out what they were doing, but "Ruckzuck" is a pretty good track, and Ralf und Florian has its moments, like "Kristallo" and "Tanzmusik." Just putting them on reminds me of those few months in 2006 when I was obsessed with Kraftwerk and krautrock (A = B on the first three albums). Ah, memories. Anyway, I don't much like "Autobahn" the piece, actually. It bores me. Second half of the album is good. Trans-Europe Express and The Man-Machine were always the twin masterpieces in my mind, with Radio-Activity having flashes of brilliance and Computer World being okay but not progressive enough. Never heard Electric Café. Isn't that where Harlem Heat's music was sampled?
I'm bumping this thread, one of the better Transition Board threads that I guess we ended up salvaging for NUTHIN', because I am really digging the self-titled release from a "dubstep" outfit called Clubroot. Kinda dubstep, I guess, but also kinda ambient, and most definitely bass-heavy, which I love (I'm pretty sure I've stated my affinity for big full low frequencies and how I feel the surfeit of such in metal's production keeps me at bay). The subwoofer is getting a workout on this one, fer sure, especially on "Lucid Dream" and "Low Pressure Zone." It's no classic, but I just like to stockpile as much ambient electronic as I can, because it's a subgenre I enjoy. Make sure you have good speakers and a properly calibrated graphic equalizer. It might not wow you, but it defnitely won't on shitty laptop speakers or something.
