When we last left Vince and co., Vince had hit rock bottom and no one wanted to hire him until he got a miracle hail mary phone call from Martin Scorsese. I'd imagine this season will focus on Vince doing the film. I'm not sure.

I'm drawing a blank on the other stories. I vaguely remember Lil Bow Wow (Shad? Chad?) punching out Seth Green and maybe getting his own show, but I can't remember what was going on with Drama and Turtle.

Any way, I'm making this thread now mostly to remind me that this is on again starting next week July 12th and also so maybe some of you can refresh me on the plot.

I completely forgot about Hung, going to check out what I missed on HBO Demand. HBO shows, with their irregular schedules makes it easy to miss premieres.

Last season seemed to be on cruise control, hopefully this season will be pretty good.

And WTF with HBO taking this week off for new eps of True Blood and Hung? Hung has aired one episode and it's a 2 week wait for the next

When the storyline isn't that interesting...filler is awesome.

Turtle is nailing Meadow Soprano, Drama is still being Drama, and E feuded with Seth Green over Emanuella Chriqui (sp?).

I should probably rewatch it, but thought last season was pretty strong, especially the latter parts that involved Vince vs. the director of Smoke Jumpers.

And count me in the camp that loved the Joshua Tree episode.

It picked up in the last couple episodes when the Smokejumpers on the set stuff actually started...but the whole lead up to it I wasn't feeling.

In regards to catching up, one thing that wasn't mentioned, Ari hired his old friend to the agency, so Gary Cole will be a regular this season. IIRC, they didn't really have any follow-up once he was hired, just that Babs didn't want to hire him.

If I remember it right (which...I mean I haven't seen it since it aired) didn't that storyline play out to where it was at least sort of intimated that Ari thought he had made a mistake and that this guy was going to be terrible?

Season 6 will be about...

Vince: The first two episodes will focus on the Great Gatsby opening and after that, which BIG movie he is going to do next since shit is taking off for him.

E: He will be in a love triangle with Sloan and some other girl. Plus he is talking about moving out of the house.

Drama: No idea

Turtle: His relationship with JLS and him getting a real job.

Ari: More company stuff with Gary Cole and
Lloyd is getting a promotion around episode 6, so he will get a new assistant. It's going to be Kate Mara, though IMDB doesn't show this, so I don't know how accurate it is.

Umm, no, I don't think that was the case. Babs didn't want to hire him because she thought he was a pussy, but he gave him an interview anyway. During the interview, he had a panic attack and it didn't go over so well. Babs then left for some women awards thing, in which Ari interrupted and told her to hire Gary Cole because he was good people (blah blah blah).

The last we saw of him was when he walked into the office with Ari and Ari said "Treat him as if it was me" Lloyd then ran up to Ari all worried and GC said "What's wrong Lloyd, you do you have a dildo up your ass?" Then, all the stuff with Smokejumpers went down, so we didn't see him again for the rest of the season.

Ari getting all excited about Gary Cole getting Greg Garcia / "My Name is Earl" with the firm was pretty funny in a "Well isn't that unfortunate..." sense.

That episode felt a lot more like season 1 than any other season.

Sloan calls E and tells him her friend has a house on the market and she pressures him into getting it. E and Vince worry about each other living alone and worry about themselves live alone. Turtle is still with Jaime Lynn Spears, Drama is doing his thing. Vince sucks at driving and the only way he passes the driving part of the test is by bribing the test taker with 2 premier tickets to his upcoming movie. Vince goes on Leno and tells that story and everyone seems to love him. Lloyd demands he get a promotion from Ari or he walks. Ari doesn't believe him and basically tells him to fuck off until Lloyd gets in his face about it. Lloyd calls Ari's house to talk to Ari's wife telling her it was nice knowing her essentially putting the pressure on Ari. Ari gives in and makes him wait on his stoop until 1:30 am then comes outside and tells him "100 days". Lloyd has to do everything Ari tells him for the next 100 days in order to get the promotion. E and Sloan go out with Vince and Sloan's friend. Vince fucks Sloan's friend in the backseat of his Escalade. E and Sloan drive back to her place to drop her off. E asks to come in. Sloan insists no, but at the last second asks him to come in for a drink. The last scene is Vince coming home to an empty house. Turtle is with Jaime, Drama is going late at work, and E is with Sloan. We see a depressed Vince before the credits roll.

Am I the only one that thinks Sloane is such an annoying bitch? And E is stupid for trying to have another crack at her again.

Yes, she's hot but there's no way I'd put up with her bullshit from this episode. And congrats to Vincent Chase on finally getting his licence!

I'm interested to see how this Lloyd/Ari story plays out.

And were we supposed to feel sorry for Vince at the end there, or something? Oh, shit, all your friends are out for the night, but you just fucked a smoking hot blonde... poor, poor guy.

I don't know that we were supposed to feel sorry for him as much as see the turn in fortunes. All the professional and superficial stuff is going great for Vince for the first time in awhile. He's got money, his career is going good, everyone loves him, he can sleep with who he wants... but the one constant in his life has been his buddies and for the first time they're not there for him because they have their own lives. Its was just a moment's realization about how much Vince's life was about his friends being his immediate family. "What do you have to go home to at night?" and all that.

So yeah, ok. I guess you were supposed to feel a bit bad for him. But it was supposed to be rooted in the notion that the superficial stuff like banging a smoking hot blonde don't mean as much to him as the real family he has.

I don't think I've ever thought Sloane a bitch at all and I don't know they ever painted her as one. She pressures E to be independent and get his life going but that's what E clearly wants. If not for Sloane he never would have started the management firm and picked up more clients. She encourages him to move out but its presented in a much less bitchy way then the original girlfriend did it, and again, E clearly wants to do it and needs to be pushed. She pushes E but doesn't seem to do it with any real threats or ulterior motives. She does it because E's basically unwilling to do what he wants to do without someone pushing him, and without Sloane Vince is the only one who does that.

Yep, Sundays.

Excellent analysis of the season so far, Lucky. They're obviously taking a more serious route in regards to Turtle and E finding their own way and I'm really liking what I see so far.
