I bet some kids are going to have nightmares when their parents give them the game thinking, "oh it's just Mickey Mouse".

So in that last picture I see Goofy's head, Donald's head, Jafar's head, the croc from Peter pan's head, though I can't tell who the dog is that's above Goofy's head. Looks like Scooby Doo almost.

It's Tigger.

I'm having more trouble with the parrot-looking knee-cap. It doesn't seem to match Jose Carioca or Iago all that much.

and the croc's name is Tick Tock.

When did the Croc get a name? The Tigger head makes it more disturbing. I have no clue who the bird is easier. I can't think of any lesser known bird characters that it might be.

I think I'm going to have to go back and say that it is probably Jose Carioca.

Lost in all of this is the fact that that first picture looks like it could be from ANYTHING and that Monstro seems to be some sort of whale/machine hybrid carrying not only a bizarre paddlewheel, Spaceship Earth, The Earful Tower, and the Hollywood Tower on it's back, but also what appears to be the Matterhorn and possibly Fort Langhorn from Tom Sawyer Island.

also... CRAZY CATERPILLAR TEACUP DWARVES!!

It's also weird seeing the 3 little pigs, the big bad wolf, and the black and white cow (I forget their names) in that picture as well. I can't tell if they're running away or what the deal is there. It looks like the the rides and the characters just merged all together.

Epic Mickey (if that's still the game's title) is rumored to be a Wii title that has Mickey Mouse using paint to manipulate the world. We were also told that the dark art-style we saw in the concept art may have been rejected by Disney, and while the game's concept remains, the visuals as we've seen them may not. Either way, we're excited to find out next month.

This looks like something out Lovecraft's mind.
It looks kinda like Wilbur Whatley's true form in "The Dunwich Horror." I applaud this.

From EuroGamer:

A source close to Disney has let slip the first details of Warren Spector's new Wii game, Epic Mickey, to Eurogamer.

The choice of platform, incidentally, boils down to Mickey's tools - paintbrushes, erasers, thinner, pencils and other artist tools - being mapped to Wii remote gestures.

But let's rewind a bit.

Epic Mickey is a tale about the 'forgotten' Disney stars: the rides, the characters, the lesser-known cartoons. When nobody any longer cares, they are cast into a dark void; a forgotten world of broken machines and bitter personalities - a bit like Sid's bedroom in Toy Story, but without the friendly furnishings.

This forgotten world is run by Oswald the Rabbit. He was Disney's first creation, made long before Mickey Mouse, and his jealousy of the newcomer has fermented for years. Now, finally, Oswald is ready for revenge.

He unleashes The Phantom Blot to wipe out Mickey and his cartoon world. The Blot pollutes the Disney universe with sticky black ink that makes colours run and fade (as seen on the Game Informer cover), so it's up to Mickey to restore peace and order. And this is where his tools come in.

Mickey has to draw and scribble his way through levels, mending broken bridges by applying the right colour paint or peering through walls after applying thinner. He can even clear rubble from his path by erasing parts of the world.

Our source told us Epic Mickey is a game about thinking and artwork - laterally considering your environment in order to overcome puzzles.

On top of that is a healthy dose of exploration, plus Mickey will be getting "his first makeover in years". "That's why no one's seen his face yet," our source explained, "But he's far more retro than you've seen him for years."

You can see Oswald on the cover of that magazine hiding behind a fencepost.

"that magazine" is GameInformer, and the picture is pretty awesome. It's kinda cool to know that Oswald is going to play the villian. It's sort of a natural role for him to come into, really.

And when they say "retro", I assume they are talking about a look that is reminiscent of his 1935-1938 design, in color, but not yet in the style seen during Fantasia. The magazine shows him with a tail, and I don't think he's had that since around that time. Also, I feel ashamed for not realizing Wayne Allwine passed away earlier this year.

Disney unveiled Epic Mickey in London last night where developer Warren Spector told the press that it's his aim is to make Mickey cool again.

"Mickey is an adventurous and rambunctious mouse," said Warren Spector, creative director and vice president, Junction Point. "I want to bring his personality to the forefront, place him in a daunting world and connect his spirited character with video game players worldwide. Ultimately, each player decides for him or herself what makes Mickey cool."

In Epic Mickey, a sorcerer named Yen Sid has created a twisted world where Disney's forgotten and retired creations live. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (created by Disney in 1927) is the earliest inhabitant of this Cartoon Wasteland and he moves there after Disney create Mickey Mouse.

Oswald makes the Cartoon Wasteland comfortable for other retired characters as they join him in this magical land. However Oswald is becoming he increasingly resentful of Mickey's popularity and when Mickey curiously stumbles upon Yen Sid's map, our mouse makes an innocent mistake that devastates Oswald's comfortable world. Mickey's error pulls him deep into the mysterious Cartoon Wasteland where he has to face the destruction he created.

Play as Mickey, you'll use the Wii Remote to wield magical paint and thinner to re-shape the world around you. You can paint platforms and take parts of the scenery away with the thinner and each player's decision to use paint, thinner or both changes the world. These decisions will affect the environment, your interaction with other characters, and even Mickey's appearance and abilities.

Epic Mickey will be released exclusively for the Wii in autumn 2010. Want to read more about the game? You can read our exclusive Warren Spector interview - complete with more juicy nuggets and world exclusive Epic Mickey artwork - within ONM's landmark 50th issue, which goes on sale on Friday 20 November.

Aw man, we're gonna have to wait till next year for it?

....it'll be a hard wait. I've read the Game Informer article and such, and it's built my anticipation.

Here's hoping it's good. It could help Disney if it is.
