From the makers of Left 4 Dead. Four player controlled hunters vs a player controlled Monster. I'm a sucker for these multiplayer games and loved Left 4 Dead so probably picking this up tomorrow.

So after playing this,uh, all day today, I love it. Definately takes a few hours to get used to, and I didnt like it at first, but I love being Monster/Trapper/Medic equally. Had some great matches so far but have only faced/played as Goliath as the monster. I will say I think a good monster is the right map is a big map is almost impossibly tough though. Between jumping and climbing I can usually get to level three pretty easily.

This. L4D2 may be the only game I've continuously played over and over and definitely the only one I've double dipped on.

I was on board with Evolve until the part about level grinding came up. Fuck that noise.

The level grinding isn't too bad, and I'd be fine just playing with the four hunters and monster you start with. I've played as all three monsters and liked the first one the best anyways.

This is a pretty hotly debated game with all the DLC already pre-announced and it costing $120 to get everything that is part of the game. The first step towards a slippery slope of paying for everything. Each new monster that comes out after this is $15 a piece!

I understand the point, but as long as you're able to play against the DLC monster, I dont see the issue

After reading some more stuff on the level grinding, it seems more like it's just basic power-up's but phrased differently. Is that accurate, Agnes?

You grind to unlock different hunters and two more monsters, which are free in game. Apparently there is some outrageous dlc that costs like $40 that I won't be buying coming later on

So it's less "you're fucking useless until you kill 2,000 rats" and more "do this to unlock these"?

I think so, seems like the other hunters have different skills but not necessarily better

Ran through the tutorial before Walking Dead. Pretty easy to get ahold of for the Hunters. Being Goliath was odd at first but then I started digging it.

Agreed. People are bitching about Wrath but I have a way harder time with Kraken.

Wraith is a cunt, too, but I've encountered way more Krakens.

Of course, a lot of the issue has to do with there being a medic who doesn't understand their position. I've played a few games just last night where the medic tried taking on the Monster by themselves instead of doing their job.

In fact, that is the most glaring problem this game has. The idea of everybody having a set role that they have little control over was fine, in theory, but that's not how people who actually play FPS want to play. Everybody wants to be the assault or the trapper and I noticed most games saw the medic and/or support drop out midway.

Haven't noticed that, but I always play medic so that's probably why. Lazurus seems cool in theory but I actually think he kinda sucks.

I'm going to be trading this in soon to put down a preorder for MKX. I have no issue with the gameplay mechanics and every issue with the monotony and lack of replay value.
