I know some various crowds have hyped Dragon Age and GTA V this week, as well as the mixed reviews on 2K's release of WWE 2K15. In the middle of all this is Far Cry 4.

I haven't played any of the others, though I remember a lot of people saying good stuff on Far Cry 3. Some of the commercials looked cool and my buddy who recently got an Xbox One was talking about getting this with me. I held off on all the pre-order bonuses because I picked up WWE and have a few hundred dollars worth of games I am planning on for Black Friday.

I caved and got this today. The commercials they keep airing, the stuff my buddy sent me via text about birds swooping from the sky and grabbing monkeys, hijacking elephants...

Got it home and loaded up, as he said you have to play through a few missions before co-op kicks in. It is visually probably the most beautiful game I have ever played. Lots of fun so far, hopefully others join in and discuss in this thread.

I heard it's somewhat cut and paste from Far Cry 3, which I enjoyed but wasn't my favorite game. Let us know what you think. I'm not 100% sure I want to relive that experience with better graphics.

Oh good an excuse to post this

"It's more Far Cry 3" isn't the worst thing. Especially since they apparently made the animals relentless assholes now (as evidenced by the above).

I picked up 3 after hearing good things but still sitting in shrinkwrap.

Looks like I've put 1 hour, 29 minutes in so far and barely scratching the surface.

Here are some of the texts from my friend that helped convince me:

One of the crazier things was seeing an eagle swoop down and pick up a monkey. It was so random I had to laugh.

Just stumbled upon something that's cool. That you can use after you levelup your character where you can ride on elephants and attack people

Another random moment last night was a civilian car had broken down so I was using a welding tool to repair it. After the people gave me some money for helping them out a rhino charged out of nowhere and flipped the car in the air and sent the people flying

I feel like I barely pay full price for a game and he does less so than me. He said four hours in, he did not regret it. I am just trying to get up to the Co-op point, which I heard Ubisoft did for Assassins Creed Unity as well.

Got far enough in to unlock co-op for when my buddy frees up (hopefully) later today.

I very much love this. A lot of fun. I may have the fresh perspective, so hard to say to people who played the previous entries but I am very happy with my full price purchase on this one.

So, my ex-wife refuses to not leave her credit card attached to her Steam account and my 7 year old decided he needed the Collector's Edition. Apparently he enjoys it.

I've put nearly 20 hours into this and just got past the King's Bridge to the northern part of the map and I ended last night by shooting a bear in the face with an exploding arrow. This is retroactively my 2014 GOTY.

FWIW, I didn't get double skins for using a bow which is bullshit.
