In part inspired by Buffy and it's dozens of songs that I adore after being exposed on the show. What are your favorite songs that you first became aware of through a television show?

My honorees
#1: Nickel - 1000 Nights. It's not even that catchy but the singer's voice is just appealing as all hell to my ears.
#2: Velvet Chain - Treason. A lot of fans prefer the other song, "Strong", but I just like this more.

Buffy 2x03 - Nickel - 1000 Nights

"Come Sail Away" in the first episode of Freaks and Geeks. I think South Park used it first, but I didn't get Comedy Central until South Park stopped being a fad. Why is this scene so good? I don't know, nothing really happens in it, but it just is.

Freaks and Geeks - Homecoming

I skipped my freshman homecoming dance to watch Freaks and Geeks. Well, I didn't skip it TO watch it, I just skipped it AND watched it. I regret that decision.

EDIT: Oh also this:

'One of the most emotional scenes I've ever seen' followed by a video entitled 'one of the most emotional scenes' is such a quintessential BearHugger post I feel like he should never post again, because it's all downhill from here.

Freaks and Geeks had a lot of good picks for this actually:

Grateful Dead - Box of Rain (Studio Version)

I used to think Grateful Dead was just a shitty jam band that but the scene featuring this song enlightened me on the front that there is some quality there.

THE ROAD - Jackson Browne

I'd never heard the song or even of Jackson Browne but I really like this one.
