For those who do not know, some of the people behind the classic OOTP Baseball simulator over at SIGames are developing a Hockey simulator based around the same exact engine. I'm incredibly stoked and hyped for this as it will basically be a Hockey version of OOTP.

I believe there will be the usual OOTP stuff (Fictional leagues, Historical Leagues/Replay, etc.)

Release Date: Tentatively late December/early to mid January.

I heard about this and if this is anywhere near the goodness of OOTP, I'm definitely getting on day 1.

Unfortunately, from what I read, they'll be only getting the most important aspects up. So there's going to be no lost seasons at this time.

Those seasons lost or modified will be replicated as if they should've happened. So Gretzky will have like 3000 points.

Eastside Hockey Manager was pretty awesome back in the day.

Putting Jagr and young Kovalchuk together was so much fun.

In my EHM Jagr broke Gretzky's goal scoring record on more than a few occasions. He destroyed it when he was part of the MINNESOTA TRIANGLE~!

The Wild had the best line in the league with Jagr, Scott Gomez and........shit, I don't even remember who the third guy was anymore. Anyway, they were 1 2 3 in scoring for about 6 straight years and just dominated the rest of the league. My main complaint with EHM is that 99% of the rookies the game created were shit. Get deep enough into the game where most of the real players have retired, and 88-90 will be enough to win the Ross.

That was also my issue with EHM, especially the freeware versions. It basically screwed over good star players from scoring too high (literally around December 4th-6th in game is when the "crunch" starts and suddenly shutouts are happening when none happened at 200 scoring, etc.) and tried to balance out scoring on the 3rd & 4th lines too high.

Other nitpicks were...
- The shot % was generally too low and also restricted potential to get any Gretzky like scoring especially goals wise.
- Goalies (especially!!) and Defensemen tended to build up way too quickly so that if you had anybody under age 26 developing and 2-3 Goalies in AHL/Juniors, all would be screaming to get promoted to the NHL despite being in the 60's-low 70's overall range.
