I'm a bit skeptical they can keep up the quality with four ongoing series and get episodes out on time for any of their properties. The Borderlands one strikes me as particularly hmm, since that isn't exactly a universe known for its deep stories.

I think if they keep each series season (assuming there will be more than one) strictly to a given quarter of the year it could be fine. They no doubt have different writers (possibly artists as well) working on each series, so it's really just a matter of keeping the coders busy, and it already seems like a pretty templated engine (and hey, it works).

Telltale Game of Thrones Project is 'Multi-Year, Multi-Title' Deal

The episodic Game of Thrones project Telltale is working on is planned to continue for several years, according to a statement from HBO.

Rumours of the fantasy-themed collaboration surfaced last month, though were confirmed this weekend at the VGX Awards. Now, an accompanying press release has shed more light on what to expect.

The project is decribed as a "multi-year, multi-title partnership between Telltale and HBO Global Licensing, targeted to premiere digitally in 2014 with an episodic game series for home consoles, PC/Mac, and mobile devices. Specific platform details are yet to be announced."

The implication here is that, as is the case with Telltale's highly celebrated The Walking Dead series, new seasons of the unnamed Game of Thrones project will be released each year. How these will tie-in with events in the TV show and books remains to be seen.

If the idea of a Telltale-designed Westeros isn't your cup of tea though, never fear. The developer also unveiled another project this weekend: Tales of the Borderlands, made in collaboration with Gearbox Software.

I just can't get into Borderlands. I'm all about the Walking Dead season 2 (coming very soon!), I loved the Wolf Among Us episode 1 and can't wait for it to continue. I love Game of Thrones so I'm pumped for this. Borderlands...eh.

When I first heard the news, I was all excited for a Lego Game of Thrones.

That's Traveller's Tales. Oops. Guess I can get excited for this too! Lol.

Doubt we get to choose which religion to follow but that'd be a nice touch. Black Goat of Qohor all the way.

Not sure if this is a spoiler or not so I will tag it:

Ack! I got one of my main characters killed at the end of Chapter 1. I tried to be a diplomat with Ramsay Snow... that did not work out in my favor.

So, again I enjoyed the episode but am left annoyed by the illusion of choice these games give you, as
there is no way to avoid Ethan getting killed.

Well to be fair, if one of the main plot points of the story revolves around that part, which it does, they're of course not going to let you change it. The choices are more about character reactions than anything else.

Oh, so I didn't fuck it up? That actually makes me feel better. I thought I played it too loose.

All the decisions you make leading up to that point, preparing for
Ramsay
's visit just seem pointless in retrospect.

That's true for the main part. But I think they just mean change who does what
ie: when choosing your Sentinel
rather than changing the entire plot/climax of the story. I get what you're getting at though. It would be legit cool if you could craft the story in any way you chose.

I thought the second episode was pretty good. It mostly served to set the wheels in motion for the rest of the episodes but overall I really enjoyed it.

Story is really good so far, IMO. The Forresters seem to be very similar to the Starks.. I fully expect most of them to be dead by the end of this season.

Also, I love that any featured character from the show has the actor voicing them. That is a huge "nice touch" IMO.

This is going to be a dumb question but I haven't owned a gaming system until recently and just got a PS4. How do I get this game? Is it a dlc through the Playstation Store?

It's on the PSN store, yeah. You buy the first episode as the "main game" and then each subsequent episode is "dlc". Or if you buy the Seasons Pass it should download automatically when each episode drops.

Do I have to watch the TV show to understand the story in this game? I love the telltale games but never got into GOT.

How much? And is it worth it?
$4.99 per episode (there will be 6) or $24.99 for the season pass (so you get one free). I think it's worth it, but I'm into the source material. Each episode is about 2 hours long, give or take.

There are references and cameos.. and the story basically takes place near the end of season 3.. but that being said, the characters you control have their own stories so I think you could enjoy it even if you didn't understand the references to the TV series' story.
