So I bit the bullet and bought a cheapie emachines computer. Has everything I need really, since I don't do much gaming at all on the pc.

I am going to keep my old computer, a friend is coming over and he is going to help me swap out hard drive which will take care of all that recurring bullshit I was dealing with, so I will use it as a second computer.

Hilarious though now with the new computer my wireless router went back to not working quite right. Oh well.....I guess that is a minor problem that I will have fixed soon....for now them I am tired! :-\

I actually looking on getting a new PC myself. Since I use the PS3 for all of my gaming needs, I don't need a beast of a machine. I still find it weird when sizing up a PC for just a web surfing PC, as opposed to a super expensive gaming PC.

An external is pretty cheap nowadays. Flash memory is better for storage, too so CD/DVDs don't even have to be used that often.

Yeah emachines had a bad rep back in the day. I think it was because they integrated too much hardware with the motherboard as one big piece, so if one thing went bad, you basically had to replace everything. I remember I had a computer like that way back in the day, I believe it was a Compaq, the modem & soundcard were integrated as one. Yuck.

Like I said this PC i bought was barely over $300, another $99 for the monitor. I think it was a pretty good deal, plus my other computer should run fine once the hard drive is swapped tomorrow(or today depending on time zone).

It was time though, for a second PC, the need for a second one has been growing for awhile now.

Next step will be a laptop, but I want to save a bit of money to get a good one, not just buy a POS, just to have something to carry around with me.

Thats why you either build it yourself or you go to a computer shop... you get more for your money, you can add components easily, and they don;t have the shitload of useless software you will never need.

I am going to be looking into assembling a new system once I get a full-time job. I priced out one for my gf, and its about $850, but she is going to be using that thing for at least five years.

As far as laptops go, get one with at least 3 gigs of memory and a good video card. Hard drive space doesn't matter, because you can get a 1 TB external for under $100 these days.
