The only one in the top 10 that made me do a double take was Half-life guy, as I didn't even recognize his name. I agree that Master Chief shouldn't have been that high, but I expected it once I saw 'voted by the public'.

Some of them seem weird (Eddie Riggs? I don't mind but I didn't think Brtual Legend was popular enough to see him on the list) but I can't think of any snubs off them top of my head.

Gordon Freeman is unremarkable yet memorable at the same time.

Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty Pirate should be higher. My list would be more PC-centric though.

I agree that characters like Goku shouldn't be on the list. They're from other media that got turned into video games. If simply being in a video game qualifies you as a character, then Joe Montana should be #1.
