so that all my Google search results redirect to stuff like "flagco.com: buy flags and flagpoles at the largest store online." System Restore won't get rid of it. Is there an easy way to rid myself of this, like uninstalling and reinstalling Explorer 8, or should I just give in and get Windows 7, thereby wiping my C drive clean?

HijackThis didn't work. Deleted a bunch of registry shit and I still get redirects. I hate computers.

God's telling you to buy a flagpole. When the Great Flood comes, you shall sit atop it, avoiding death. Follow the divine advice.

Flagpole sitting is making a comeback. You'll be ahead of the curve!

But, yeah, do Malewarebytes.

I did Malwarebytes already and it didn't find anything. These guys are tricky. It's gotta be a bunch of Psycho Penguin-looking fuckfaces in Belarus selling redirects to flagco.com for two cents.

Wait for a second opinion on the matter, but

http://www.drweb.com/

fixed my computer when it was on its death bed. Wait cause uh...that shit nearly ended my comp too. If anyone else has used it then I know it'll be alright.

Oh, perfect.

I should be able to handle that tutorial, Kreese, but you gotta admit that your eyes glaze over when you first look at all that shit. So many ways I can screw this up. I think I really am better off altogether buying a new operating system.

There are forums where you can make a thread and post a hijackthis log and some kind soul will walk you through a step-by-step removal process. I had a similar bug on my old laptop and I wound up having to run some kind of weird custom script in ComboFix to get rid of it. I think this is the one I posted at.

I may look like a whatever but at least I don't have hijackers in my browser. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

You shouldn't have said that because now there's no defending some of your posts.

I usually take this as a sign to buy a new computer.

I've bought a lot of computers.

This time I actually bought some proper anti-virus/anti-other stuff protection though.

Pretty sure I can't reformat because my laptop didn't come with a Windows disc.

You can always reformat. The ISOs on places like The Pirate Bay are sometime better than whatever came on your disc anyway.

Places like The Pirate Bay are probably why I'm getting redirected to reptiletopsites.com.

Wow, having malware/hijacker really isnt the beginning of getting a new computer. If all else fails, backup your important shiz then reformat.

It's not, I just like using it as an excuse.

I fixed it! Some little Kaspersky DOS tool thingy from Bleeping Computer seems to have taken it right off. Said it found something infected, restart my computer to make it go away, I did, and it's gone. Well hey. Thank you, anonymous people who have dedicated their lives to helping idiots get malware off their computers.

Given that like ten people on that board alone are complaining about this thing, there must be something going around, so if anyone else gets it, there's the way to get rid of it.

Yeah, I really got what was coming to me by being mildly inconvenienced on part of the internet for like a day.
