It's Real to Me - The Documentary Thread

The Pez Outlaw on Netflix was entertaining stuff.

So at some point in the last like ten years I became decent friends with the guy who made A Band Called Death (which should be seen). Passion project that has kind of turned into a bit of a nightmare thanks to studios and distribution and shit. He's working on a new one, maybe his last, about Wheatus, and even if I didn't know the guy I would be 1000% on board for just the notion.

"Kings of Tupelo" is really funny on netflix. It's about the Elvis impersonator who tried to kill Obama and he's fucking nuts as you'd expect. I just started and we're already into Brother Act Elvis's, Foot Fetishes, etc.

The Fit for TV 3 episode doc about The Biggest Loser on Netflix is a really fascinating watch as somebody who did watch various episodes during its run but never really remembered a lot about it beyond the trainers. I also like that they don't shy away from the dangerous elements of it and some of the... stupid/anti-health stuff that producers would throw in for the entertainment factor.

The John Candy: I Like Me documentary by Colin Hanks is on Prime and it was really good. Not quite the level of the Mr. Rogers Won't You Be My Neighbor one but pretty close.

Netflix rolling doing 3 episodes on the Tyra Banks America's Next Top Model and it's also equally fascinating as a watch for me.

I never watched either of those shows and I just watched the docs and yeah those were insane. The shit they did on Biggest Loser was really abusive and ANTM was too but also really fucking absurd. TWO blackface episodes!
