I've seen Slayer live a ton of times. Never missed a chance for about an 8 year period to see 'em anytime they came within about a 90 mile radius. Never been disappointed. Fuck.

While Metallica enjoys the commercial recognition, Slayer IMO, was the better and more appropriately labeled Thrash band that set the foundation for the next decade of Metal.

R.I.P.

He got bit by a venomous spider like 2 yeas ago. I'd like to believe that played a factor in his death. Still, what a fucking shame. I loved Slayer.

Not one to believe in the afterlife, but if there is one, I'm sure Dimebag Darrell had a beer waiting for him.

Wikipedia tells me that the guy who shot Dimebag Darrell's assailant was named Officer Niggemeyer.

Even though Heineken probably was a factor in his death, I'm surprised Heineken doesn't have anything about his death on their page.

My favorite line:
"He was still working to regain dexterity needed," said Slayer spokeswoman Heidi Robinson-Fitzgerald of Hanneman."If [Slayer] had played slow songs, he could have done it."
