There's enough nostalgia in the other thread to merit its own topic.

I've played on and off for 15-16 years, stopping most recently when the only other player I know moved out of state, and every game store in my area when out of business at the same time. I haven't had a chance to try the new game on XBLA, but I'm looking forward to it.

I was hugely into Magic all through junior high and high school. I started way back around Unlimited/Antiquities - my rares from my first Unlimited starter were a Mana Vault and a Gauntlet of Might, I still remember, haha. I think I traded the Gauntlet of Might for a Craw Worm. Oops. I even got into tournaments around the Urza's block timeframe. I kind of gave it up when I went to college, because it took up too much time and money. But I still love to draft the new sets when they come out.

I used to buy and sell Power 9 on eBay to supplement my income as a poor college student. It was a surprisingly lucrative business, heh. I still have a Mox Jet left over I've been too lazy to offload. $250 and it's yours!

I'm gonna have to try out the XBLA game. How is it? How many cards does it have?

Without turning my 360 on or looking it up, I'll try to answer for ya Jer.

There are: Mono Black, White, Green, Red, Blue along with RWG, Black/Green, and I think Red/Black/Green...there's also a Black/Blue artifact deck you play against but isn't unlockable.

The five Mono decks allow for you to unlock an additional 17 cards through winning in the campaign modes, custom duels or thru online play. The Multi colored decks allow for an additional 15 thru the same means.

There's no deck customization as apparently both WotC and Stainless Games wanted to prevent lock down decks and allow for a more even playing field..also to probably not have to spend the enormous time it would take to re-create the current tournament legal cards and the constant upkeep it would take for each no tourny cycle.

So far, I've had a blast playing it. Thoth and I have had some great matches and ones where we've both just asked the other to end it due to crap hand draws.
