Man, the two good Monster Magnet albums were really good, huh.

I was a quite the Monster Magnet fan back in the 90s, but until yesterday, I hadn't listened to them in ages. Spine of God and Superjudge are both phenomenal, but nothing else I liked then holds up now. Dopes to Infinity has its moments, but I could barely get through Powertrip and I couldn't even finish God Says No. I can't bring myself to listen to anything they did after that.

That said, fuck you if you can't get down with this:

"Nod Scene" is probably one of the best stoner anthems in the history of the shit:

I still have only heard Dopethrone, which I like a lot. Monster Magnet (their early stuff, anyway) appeals to me more, but is also on a different trip than Electric Wizard.

DID YOU KNOW: Monster Magnet did a cover of Kick Out the Jams for the first and only ECW album. I think their version would later push Kick Out the Jams to the top of the list of songs that I had multiple version of on my iPod.

Good gravy, Dave Wyndorf is only a year younger than my mother. Would have never guessed.

Spacelord was the first song played by 95 Rock in my hometown, when they made their broadcast debut in Summer 1999. They don't mind telling you that every time they play it either.

Didn't the lead singer OD? Like, more than once?

The only thing I heard in full from them was God Says No. A friend of mine a few years ago told me to check out their older stuff but never did.

Mitch Hedberg has a funny joke about MM.

Get Witchcult Today, today. Recorded on vintage equipment, so it legit sounds like an oldass stoner rock album
