Foul-mouthed cartoon duo Beavis And Butthead could be heading back to the small-screen, as a pair of geriatrics.

Twelve years after they last shocked audiences on MTV, creator Mike Judge is contemplating a comeback - but with the teenage layabouts as grumpy old men.

Judge reveals, "I kind of think of them as being either 15 or in their 60s. I wouldn't mind doing something with them as these two dirty old men sitting on the couch. In between then? I don't know. At one point I thought Butthead might do Ok on some really low-level sales job. Beavis might be landscaping."

I have to be honest, I'm interested in this. I'd love to see a revival of this show, and it was one of my favorite shows growing up.

When I saw the topic, I thought he was going to make the guy who looked like Hank Hill actually be Hank Hill and combine the two shows.

Anything other than that is a disappointment, I tell you what.

There was a MAD magazine article like this back in the day. Though, I don't think either of them would make it to 60.

Yep. I figured it would be too subversive to last long.

I think it was more "too on ABC and a Cartoon" to last long.
Then again, living in San Francisco the show was a documentary rather than any kind of subversive comedy. ;D

They already had the character designs created for their geezer versions (they used them in Naked Colony), but then they used them for their dads in Do America.

My favorite part was MSTing the music videos, though.

I'd love for Beavis and Butthead to rip apart some of the hip hop videos from the earlier part of the decade. That would be glorious.

As much as I love the show it was clear that Judge was running on fumes by the end. But just bringing them back to do current videos could be great.

I don't know what to think about this. I alternate between thinking he's running on fumes (see later seasons of King of The Hill) and thinking he's as good as ever (see Idiocracy). Looking forward to seeing Extract this weekend. Yes, I'm attempting to turn this into a general Mike Judge thread, what of it?

So......

Do you guys think they ever scored?

My money's on Lolita and Tanqueray after they each had about 5 kids.

That or their one-shot female clones (who I think were in Take a Number).

While I liked "Idiocracy", people mentioning it whenever they see a movie/show/band they hate do good has somewhat ruined it for me.

Idiocracy is obviously such a mess at an editorial level (and I never say that about movies because I know dick about editing) that I think there's a potentially good cut that will never see the light of day. What I've caught on TV was decent.

Idiocracy would make for a great 30 minute short film but as is, is just a pretty good 85 minute feature. People forget though that the last half hour or so of Office Space wasn't all that great.

We don't need a new series of Beavis and BUTT-head, we can find new ways to entertain us.

Huh huh, he said anus.

I'm glad someone picked that up.

In the last hour or so you get the Jump to Conclusions mat. You are clearly wrong sir.

Speaking of Mike Judge, did anyone else know KOTH actually has a series finale next Sunday? I was just checking show listings and noticed an hour long episode with a description noting it was the finale - originally I just assumed the show quietly ended with the season finale in May.
