With the board back up and this game coming out this Tuesday, may as well get some discussion going. I already have my pre-order in.

Key changes this year (PS3 version, and lifted from Wikipedia):

- Pure Analog Control System, which includes analog controls for hitting, pitching, and throwing. Pure Hitting allows the player to stride and swing using the Right Analog Stick, Pure Pitching functionality incorporates a new Pitch Meter when setting strength and location, and Pure Throwing can be used to make defensive throws by simply pointing the Right Analog Stick in the direction of the base, also allowing for fake throws to keep runners honest.

- The Co-op Mode allows up to four-player offline or online cooperative play where players can split duties covering either the infield or outfield, while also switching off at the plate or choosing the specific batters they’d like to control. Users can play 1 vs. 2, 2 vs. 2, or 2 vs. CPU.

- There is also a Challenge of the Week online feature, which will include 2-3 minute single player online gameplay, which will be supported by leader boards and prizes awarded in three tiers.

- The fifth generation of Road to The Show adds a new interactive slider set to the Create Player process, new training modes triggered by the Player Performance Evaluator, Minor League substitution logic improvements, advancement system improvements that now compares a player's stats to their competition in the organization, and the new No Assist Fielding option.

- MLB 11: The Show will also include stereoscopic 3D functionality, a customizable camera editor, stadium specific broadcast camera angles for all 30 MLB teams, new weather elements, stadium specific Jumbotrons and fireworks, and PlayStation Move motion controller support for the Home Run Derby mode.

I played the demo and I like hitting with the stick now. Pitching takes awhile to get used to.

From playing the 2K11 demo it seems like The Show is going to be the better game again; I just don't like how they do analog hitting.

I'll probably pass on this year's game. Barely scratched the surface in '10 and the new control scheme doesn't excite me all that much.

I hate analog swings, but I thought the analog pitching in MLB 2K10 was pretty stellar. I almost beat someone online the first time I played it at a friend's house.

This. Of course, when it comes to sports video games, I usually pop in whatever sport is currently in session. I haven't touched NCAA Football 11 in a few months and am playing College Hoops 2k8 right now. I'll start up the Show in a few weeks. I haven't played it much since I picked it up when I bought my PS3 in December, but I loved the graphics and the gameplay was much smoother than the PS2 version, which was a big plus.

Swing sticks can fuck right off. First thing I do every year is set the hitting to classic. Pitching I've been ok with the 2K series use of the stick, so I'll give that a chance again this year. But I don't even bother with the hitting.

The game could link up with Netflix and Joe Buck could tell you what you could be watching after the game.

Bought it yesterday. Not much to say, other than "pretty awesome." I like the changes to RTTS. I do like the new analog pitching, but have already switched back to traditional hitting and fielding.

Is there a way to change diving / jumping for the ball to an actual button or am I forced to use the stupid six axis controls for all of those things?

I dunno if you care or want posts about MLB 2K11, but here's a fun tidbit. They did their million dollar perfect game challenge again this year, and Stevie Richards already pulled it off. However, the contest starts April 1, so he is out of luck.

..I posted it in the rasslin thread too. Thing is, he didn't do it the way 2k wants, so he wouldn't have won anyway.. he did it during a regular "season" game and not in the special "1million dollar challenge" mode the game has.

...guess he can just go back to fucking sheep.

I got the game a couple of days ago and am loving it thusfar. I started a franchise with the Braves and traded a few prospects for David Ortiz, Clay Buchholz, and a 2nd base prospect. Dominating the NL East as we speak. I havn't tried RTTS yet. I'm loving analog pitching, but I just can't get used to the hitting yet.

Did anyone have this problem in MLB 10. I'm playing RTTS and it's freezing when I try to sim to my next appearance. I read some other message boards and they said if you turn off pre game batting practice, the problem wouldn't occur. It didn't help. I think there might be a glitched roster among one of the teams but if the CPU controls the rosters, I can't do anything about that.

I can't stand the fact you HAVE to play 162 games and you HAVE to play all 9 innings. I'd much rather play 56 games at with 5 innings each so I can play every game and get through a season before the next game comes out. And whenever the game is in 1080p, it doesn't fill up my whole screen. You have small bars on the top/bottom/left/right. Very annoying.

I'm def going to try 2K11.

I know in the previous 2K games you could have a shorter schedule and cut down the number of innings during the season.

It's why I only play RTTS; as a hitter I have less than 10 instances per game so it goes fast, and as a pitcher I either appear every fifth game or I only pitch an inning a game.

Ya, that is why I'm gonna get that instead. I just got a job at Gamestop and we can take games out 4 days at a time.

I have a really big tendency to strike at pitches outside the zone. Is there a way to prevent this or am I bad a reacting to things?

If its all pitches, you just need more practice at waiting. If its certain pitches you are swinging away at, that'll take some practice against pitchers with those pitches because you are totally honed in on those pitches as hittable.

I have no patience, which hurts my ball/strike ratio. I know I would get better pitches to hit if I had more 2-0 and 3-1 counts. I'm going through franchise now with the Cubs and won my first game after going 0-10. I would have won a few other ones but I blew a couple of saves along the way. Carlos Zambrano threw 85 pitches in 1-0 shutout of the Houston Astros. He also hit a single and a double while striking out 6 batters.

They really should work on the way they determine pitch types for the fake minor leaguers in RTTS. I've seen lefties who throw 95 and compliment it with a knuckleball. Seems a little ridiculous.

Happens in Dynasty mode too. Its quite stupid. I find someone who does that, and I get the edit function out and edit it to a different pitch that usually compliments it.

Wish the game would actually let you do some college/high school games and then get some extra points to get drafted instead of just ending up on a team. Would be funner to see if I could get drafted, and if I didn't, get signed by a minor league team and work my ass off to get noticed so a big league team would actually go out of its way to sign me. Or so I would think.

I am the only one who has trouble throwing with left-handers in '10. I don't know if it's because the meter goes the opposite way of right but I have trouble reaching the strike zone and I tend to give batters deep counts.

Its because the meter is opposite side in '10. I found that when I did RTTS, and made a submarine style lefty pitcher that I got used to it.

I think I'll try getting '11 somehow. Just because I've got the itch to try that again. Submarine style righty pitcher, ho!

Anyone got a good idea of pitches to use for a submarine style? I would think probably something that moves downwards after throwing would be good, so like sinker, a change, and a curveball would be good, right? Probably include a 4Seamer into that package just to have a straight pitch, right?
