I thought about just adding this as post to Music Videos thread but this deserves its own thread.

Some very generous soul has uploaded their VHS collection of MTV music videos from its first 10 years. Complete with commercials and VJ introductions.

There's all of Live Aid, Dee Snider's Heavy Metal Christmas, GUEST VJ HOURS WITH DAN AYKROYD AND PAUL STANLEY!

That looks pretty awesome. Would love to see the "transition" from 1989 to 1991 given all the talk about how Grunge burst onto the scene overnight and was completely dominating MTV by 1992.

This is the most recent MTV thread so I'm going to post this here.

This probably won't strike most of you as a big deal but it's actually really wack. Those archives dated back to 1996 and were a cool way to see how music news was reported at the time. Just last week I was reading an article from '97 where Bob Geldof talked about his heated phone exchange with Michael Hutchence the night before his suicide. Now that article link directs to mtv.com's homepage.
