EA is trying to once again bring NBA Jam back from the dead. Looks like it is just going to be for the Wii. Didn't work out so well for them in 2004. Interesting twist this time around though: You can vote for which players make the game:

Apparently this started last week, so if you are a Clippers, Kings or Thunder fan, too late to vote for your favorites. This week you can pick 3 reps from Timberwolves, Grizzlies and Warriors.

This might be kind of cool. I remember loving NBA Jame TE on the SNES. This might work well on the Wii.

$1.25 every Monday, Wednesday, Friday at noon during my freshman year in the university game room. I was the Bulls. I had a pretty good 75% winning record or so. No one else ever played it.

Loved that game.

I'd rather the originals released as a collection to Xbox Live and the PSN. I miss this game so damn much. Awesome fun.

This had better be 2D or at least SFIV style 3D and there had better be a "big head" mode!!

Hell yes. This is exactly the type of game that XBLA and PSN were invented for.

It's too bad that it's EA that owns the franchise now, because there's no chance of Sub-Zero or Reptile being in this one. I'm optimistic for this though.

I always seemed to use the "secret characters" in this game. Then again, I used to use Scott Skiles a lot on NBA All Star Challenge, so I guess it makes sense I'd use dunking Bill Clinton

Same with me. I didn't even like Bill Clinton at the time but there was just something cool using the current president to dunk over NBA superstars.

It's a shame that Jordan seemed to be the only hold out for so many games from that time.

That looks horrible. Its like the video game version of TNT's "Gone Fishin" segment. I know the focus of NBA Jam was never the graphics, but what's with the cardboard cutout heads?

Looks like something coming out on XBLA. (edit- I wasn't aware it was only for the Wii. Still.)

Yeah it's a total WiiWare game, dude. The heads, they're all archival NBA photos and apparently they'll have different expressions, etc. It's really no different than the original games as they looked the same way.. just not as "photo realistic".

Wii only? God dammit. I no longer have a Wii. I mean, I do plan to buy another one at some point, but it's really stupid to not release it on all 3 systems, especially since Wii's online sucks.

Dubq- I just checked. This is NOT going to be a WiiWare game. It'll be a disc game. So yeah... fuck that.

Well, I don't think that this revelation warrants a "fuck that" - NBA Jam was a fun franchise and this looks to be the same but with updated visuals and roster.. I'm in. As long as it's not FULL-full price (ie: $59 in Canada). As far as it being exclusive goes.. we'll see how long that lasts. RE4 was also supposed to be exclusive to Nintendo, but that didn't last long, either.

The game looks awesome. I don't want better graphics, I want NBA Jam and it looks like it with updated rosters which is great.
