Well, it's the offseason for over a third of the league already. Discuss head coaching vacancies and all of the free agent signing and trades ITT

Of course, many in the sports media are already abuzz trying to figure out who will take over the reins of the embattled Californian franchise.

That's right. The Sacramento Kings will NOT be bringing Alvin Gentry on to be their permanent head coach.

Los Angeles Lakers next coach odds

CandidatesOdds to become next LA Lakers HC

LeBron James+15,000
Nick Nurse would be an absolute fool if he left being a Canadian hero for the chance to let LeBron and Jeannie Buss tell him how to drive the Lakers clown car.

I'm surprised Mike Brown is so high. Don't they remember how that worked the first time!? I'm not sure if there's any love lost from how his and LeBron's first runs in Cleveland ended in 2010 either.

I'm not sure if I get this deal on the Pacers end. If they're trying to tank, why'd they do the Tyrese Haliburton trade?

Dumbest trade ever, Lakers probably paid the Pacers several mil under the table. Then again, I guess they get to unload all that sweet Westbrook cap space the following year so maybe they can flip it and load up for Haliburton

Good piece for when they get a top pick. Also, Brogdon is owed another 65 million and Hield 38 million. So if all they wanted from the trade was Haliburton and to shed salary otherwise it's perfect.

It seems like the kind of dumb NBA GM move where "the team can be competitive while still tanking." I feel like Russ is due for somewhat of a comeback season next year (assuming he doesn't somehow stick with the Lakers) and I feel like him and Haliburton is probably a decent enough 1-2 to hover around 30-35 wins (IE end up in basketball purgatory). @Alfdogg should be glueing himself to Gainbridge Fieldhouse rn.

I accepted long ago that they're never going to make an honest attempt at being a contender, so I suppose they might as well try to bring in someone that can sell some tickets. Having said that though, this is at least the third "(team) has emerged as a potential suitor to acquire Russell Westbrook this offseason" article I've seen, and I'm not sure I buy any of them.

I buy the Hornets one the most. There's good reason for the Hornets to unload Hayward, Oubre, and Plumlee. For them those three guys are a waste of money and are paid way too much but for us they would be good fits.

Thought of Russ playing with LaMelo is friggin weird. Like what would that even look like? I suppose it can't be any weirder or worse than Russ on the '21-'22 Lakers though...

I also feel like the time to tank was this season not next season. There are four franchise talents in the draft IMO. That doesn't exactly happen often.

The New York Knicks have emerged as a potential suitor to acquire Russell Westbrook this offseason.

I think this one was just someone playing with the trade machine, but Randle/Kemba/Alec Burks was the package they had going back.

Also saw that the Lakers would want Terry Rozier instead of Hayward in a Hornets deal

I think I would have voted Mobley, but I love Scottie Barnes, and honestly, all guys in the top 5 of voting had really fantastic seasons.

If Raptors get swept, I feel like the "Mobley should've won" clamor will get louder.

Of course, thankfully, The Raptors are facing a team starring James Harden and coached by Doc Rivers so if anyone can be the first team to come back from 0-3....

Mark Jackson to the SacKings seems like a signing that we’ll be like “WTH were they thinking ?” in 6-12 months (days)

Today in wild/dumb Lakers offseason speculation talk.

How the hell do you trade LeBron? Seriously, Idk you value a player like him at this stage of his career. I don't think having him on the roster is a guarantee that you're going to be in championship contention but you'd also have to give up a franchise guy (and/or a couple all stars and/or some first round picks) to acquire him. Nearest precedent would be Shaq in 2004, I guess?

Maybe I take the chance if I'm Utah who has gotten so close and never quite gotten over the hump but if I'm Miami and Cleveland, why the hell do I want to mortgage my future on a 38 year old whose wheels could fall off at any moment? Not to mention their past issues with LeBron.

Also unlike Shaq in '04, there doesn't seem any indication that LeBron wants to go anywhere.

LeBron has a trade veto clause that isn't a trade veto clause, no way he goes somewhere like Utah
