Hasbro said that the original concept design of Monopoly was round, so it's not something they randomly came up with as a way to get collectors to buy a new version. They came up with the electronic pin card idea, because they wanted to stop people from embezzling money from the bank. Boo. Ooo.

The ATM setup also eliminates the possibility of using any bank-related house rules, like the awesome but entirely arbitrary rule of putting taxes in the middle for whoever lands on free parking. I won't play Monopoly on computer or a game console for this reason.

Also, I shouldn't need batteries to play frackin' Monopoly.

I just hope this new version makes it so it won't take hours to finish the game. The newer versions of Monopoly have some sort of rule now to complete the game in half the time or something like that.

How do you know that rule won't be available? I had a version of Monopoly for my phone that had that as an option.
