49ers signed OT/OG Ben Bartch from the Jaguars PS. Bartch has started 20 games after being a 5th Round pick in 2020.

Seahawks got a ST blow losing S Jerrick Reed to a torn ACL. He was 3rd in the NFL in special teams tackles.

Colts waived LB Shaq (aka Darius) Leonard!

Scott Mitchell went off on Facebook over Wayne Fontes and others burying him as part of the reason Barry Sanders never won a Super Bowl on the new Bye Bye Barry doc. on Amazon
Mitchell was awful against the Eagles but that Eagles D had 6 interceptions total in that game and Don Majkowski put up points in essentially garbage time when they were down by 30+. Eagles basically took Barry out of the gameplan by getting up early.

The Buccaneers game they probably should've won but Frank Reich didn't throw for any TDs in relief himself and again, Barry was pretty stifled for the most part (65 on 18 carries).

When your teams are largely built around a single player and reliant on the other aspect to chip in (Barry + the passing game in this case), if that "superstar" gets bottled up that can expose you pretty quickly and if you're in a game scenario where you can't utilize that player, it makes it 10X harder.

Sanders was held to negative yards in one Packer/Lions playoff game(IIRC), but he only had like 13 carries.

Let's not talk Thanksgiving football as 2015 had the dreadful freezing wind and rain that I was outside at work for during Black Friday sales....meanwhile the Packers were trying to honor Brett Favre, bringing a near death Bart Starr out on a cart in this shit weather and then losing to the Bears.

--
Packers also played a Cowboys team in 94 that was starting Jason Garrett at QB. Packers managed to blow a decent early lead to lose yet again to those fuckers.

Yes, Green Bay held Sanders to -1 yard in the 1994 season's playoffs.

The only good thing Wayne Fonts ever did was playing Sgt Aguado on Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

I didn't watch yet, but Wayne says he wanted Joe Montana or Warren Moon and wound up with Scott Mitchell (a hot commodity after replacing Dan Marino for a long stretch and doing decent)
Well.... at least the context was Fontes and Sanders were talking on the sidelines during a modern era reunion and the cameras were rolling. Fontes didn't just do a sit down and name Mitchell personally.

--
Sanders' dad was quite the gimmick. He seemed to be like Irv Favre, and be constantly in the local media spotlight and willing to be a soundbyte.

Irv was even doing commercial spots in Green Bay and IIRC had a regular call in spot on the radio.
--
Watching this I didn't "learn" anything, but I lived the era where Barry shunned fame and the Lions and Fontes/Ross Lions were mid, which is a big part of this.

My old school Cowboy hate came through when they showed the 89 draft interview with Deion. He's draped in gold and says he won't play for the Lions unless they paid him huge.

--
Having not seen Payton or Jim Brown in my lifetime, Barry is the best RB I've ever seen. You just never knew when he was going to stick ya and take it to the house.

Four of the last six games the Packers have are against the Giants, Bucs, Panthers and Bears. Playoffs are a real possibility in the NFC.

It sounds like they are going to wait to fire Rivera at the end of the season for whatever reason.

Lol you knew Pats/Giants had to end with something like that.

First time Giants beat the Pats at home since 1987.

Bob Socci: The Patriots are 2-9 for the first time since 1992.
Scott Zolak: (excitedly) I was there for that too!

Idk why that exchange on the Patriots radio broadcast amused me so much.

That defense playing so well (Barkley ran for only like 46 yards or something). Then Zappe drives down the field to set up a pretty makeable FG to tie and send to OT. Only for the kicker to miss wide left.

Just a total encapsulation of the Patriots season in a nutshell right there. They aren't getting any breaks, outside of that Mac TD drive a few weeks ago, and when they do start playing well there's a play or drive that nullifies it all.

I stand by that comment but we need to draft a QB with our first round pick. I will not tolerate anything else.

Same old Bills. If McD isn’t gone after this year I don’t know if they’re serious about winning.

Bills still have games left with the Cowboys, Chiefs, and Dolphins. Giving them wins against the Pats and Chargers they are going to have to win at least one of those three to make the playoffs. Probably two.

I feel like locker room mutinies are barely justified but I’d be livid if I were on the Pats defense. Besides 2 or 3 games, they have put the team in the position to win but offense just hasn’t done their job.

They've also done it without arguably their best defensive player in Matt Judon too, which in some ways makes it a lot more impressive from a coaching/roster utilization perspective.

Pats D, despite being 24th in PA, is 18th in PYPG (11th in TD allowed) and 10th in RYPG (19th in TD allowed).
