Three of my friends saw it tonight and said it was definitely below average. I wasn't planning on paying to see this movie, but now I'm certainly not going to.

It only made $4,750,000 last night as is on pace to finish 4th for the weekend. After all the hype this kind of makes me happy. I was expecting it to win the weekend.

I've heard some friends say that Paul Blart was better, and they hated that movie... so I'm worried just how bad this one will be.

Also, Seth Rogen was the wrong choice for casting. I still can't buy him in what's supposed to be one of the "darker" roles in a comedy film in a while.

I saw it earlier today and I thought Seth Rogen was fine in the role. He pulled off the creepiness factor surprisingly well and made Ronnie suitably disturbing. Overall, it was a pretty decent movie that was a lot closer to Bad Santa than Paul Blart.

I saw this last night and loved it. Seth Rogen was very good in the creepy role as was said. The supporting cast was very good as well. Anna Faris was very good as the way too into herself make-up seller. Much better than ADVENTUERLAND.

No. The movie wasn't hyped much at all and no tracking or box office predictions had it winning the weekend due to the R-rating and dark subject matter. Tracking and predictions had Fast and Furious or Hannah #1.

Much better than ADVENTUERLAND. [sic]

Irrelevant, given that they're two different movies.

I was typing this from my phone, so I don't do long post from there, but let me explain that. The reason I compared the two were because I had just seen ADVENTURELAND the week before. OBSERVE & REPORT helped "wash my mouth out" of the taste of that putrid taste.

Adventureland was a really good movie. I know a lot of people expected Superbad in an amusement park due to the marketing campaign, but I thought it as a well done movie that did comedy and drama well

I was one of the people expecting that. The marketing campaign was really bad. I was looking to laugh, and when I didn't I alomst felt cheated. O&R was everything I was hoping and more.

It was dark & funny. It was solid, not spectacular. It felt like there was probably a lot more footage shot, but cut during editing.

This. I didn't like Adventureland because it was a bad movie. I disliked it because I was expecting 90 minutes of wacky misadventures and didn't get it.

I thought Jesse Eisenberg was good in his part, as were the supporting cast. The only times I laughed though were when Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig were on screen. I saw the storyline with Ryan Reynolds coming from a perverbial mile away. It was well written, I just felt like I bought tickets for the wrong movie than what I wanted.

I don't know, if a movie is good, it's good. I don't care how it's marketed, I just want quality entertainment.

Let's get back on topic and discuss how amazing this movie was

You are right about that. There is a difference between a movie someone likes and a movie that is good. Just because you like a movie (not you, but a person) doesn't mean it's a 4 star film, and just because you don't like a movie doesn't mean it's a bad movie. I didn't like the movie, but I wouldn't go and say it's a great film, maybe 2 1/2 stars at best.

But yes, back on topic, this movie was all kinds of awesome. Ray Liotta was so funny in this film. When he
blows up at Rogen in the office
had me rolling. "Can we use our inside voice?" by Rogen after that was too funny.

I only silently chuckled a few times until he fuckin' shot the pervert. I somehow didn't see that coming at all. I lost it.

Overall, though. Meh. B-.

I think people are going to hate this movie like they did when Jim Carrey made the Cable Guy, I know my fiance thought it was stupid. I enjoyed it quite a bit, it was just silly dark humor. I'll pick it up for sure when it comes out on dvd, I enjoyed Rogen playing a different type of character for once.
