I'm assuming you're talking about the normal one and not the SP, since I think the SP came with the wall plugin adapter. In which case yes there are some adapters like you're looking for, though I don't know if any are Nintendo made. I had a decent 3rd party rechargeable battery for mine that you could plug in while playing.

As for other add ons, you're REALLY going to want some kind of snap on light. The lack of a back light can be pretty brutal depending on the game you're playing. I almost never played mine without using a light.

But if you were getting the SP then it should have the power cord you wanted with it, plus has a backlight, so there's really nothing you need for that one.

I was just gonna say a snap on light, Smues beat me to the punch. I never got an SP, always had the original Advance until I ended up just getting an emulator.

I didn't get an SP until long after it had come out. Actually I got it years after I got a DS. I found one on sale at Walmart one day and got it because I wanted something with a backlight to play my original gameboy games and Gameboy color games. If the DS played those I'd have never gotten an SP.

And when I bought it the cashier asked about it and I mentioned my reason. He quite adamantly told me that the DS does in fact play original gameboy games, but he was wrong.

Get a snap on light. I had a special battery pack with cord that allowed me to play GBA while plugged in but I lost it. That was awesome.

You'll die without a snapon light. There are options to install internal backlights but I never bothered with those, I cheaped out and got a backlit screen replacement that just chewed through batteries & didn't work so well.
