I have no idea what they could possibly run that could even come close to filling the budokan unless they're using njpw talent or something
I'm not sure if I get it either. It's not like AJPW's been building more momentum like NOAH a year or two ago before they did their first arena show in years. Last I heard they were still struggling to get more than 1,000 people to shows.

I'm assuming it's going to be heavy on guest appearances from NJPW and alumni.

Really love all the rollups and upsets in the G1 this year. the 4 block format feels like it has really loosened things up.

I wouldn't call that AEW working with both companies. Just allowing guys to take bookings with multiple companies. No different from ROH guys working with NOAH, NJPW, DG etc. There's been lots of companies like that.

KENTA has been hilarious in the G1. The stuff with his book has especially been great. @tekcop you need to buy it and do a review to make up for never reviewing Kawada's book.

Alright we're heading into the last 3 nights and we have some clarity for what's going to happen...unless you're in D Block!
  • These are Tuesday's G-1 matches at Budokan Hall
  • A block: Kazuchika Okada (4-1) vs. Lance Archer (3-2)
  • B block: Tama Tonga (4-1) vs Jay White (5-0)
  • A block: Jonah (3-2) vs. Bad Luck Fale (2-3)
  • B block: Tomohiro Ishii (1-4) vs. Sanada (3-2)
  • C block: Hirooki Goto (3-2) vs. Evil (2-3)
  • C block: Tetsuya Naito (3-2) vs. Zack Sabre Jr. (4-1)
  • D block: Shingo Takagi (3-2) vs. El Phantasmo (2-3)
  • D block: Will Ospreay (3-2) vs. Juice Robinson (2-3)
  • If Okada wins, he wins A block. If Archer beats Okada, he wins A block. If Okada and Archer do a no contest and Jonah beats Fale, Jonah wins A block.
  • White vs. Tonga winner wins B block. If there is a draw, White advances
  • If Sabre wins, he wins C block. If Naito wins, he wins C block.
  • If Robinson and Phantasmo win, there is a seven-say tie at 3-3 in D block. If Takagi and Ospreay win, Takagi wins the block. If Ospreay wins and Takagi loses, Ospreay wins the block.
  • On Wednesday, the A vs. B and C vs. D winners face and the winners face off on Thursday for the championship.
Give us the 7 way tie Gedo!

There's some fun possibilities here. Doing Okada Vs Jay in the semi's again feels too soon. Having Tama upset Jay to set up a title shot and further the angle they've built with Jay booting him out would make a lot of sense though. Having Archer beat Okada would make no sense so I assume he wins. Jonah has been heavily protected but I don't think he wins A Block.

I can see either Naito or Sabre easily winning C but probably Naito. Same with SHINGO and Ospreay but I think Shingo wins because Ospreay is tied up in the US Title shit and his losing to Juice will further that feud.

Prediction for the semi's
Okada Vs Tama
Naito Vs Shingo

Only way Okada losing the G1 is if Omega is coming over for WK.

NJPW (and STARDOM) are coming to NYC for a PPV on October 28th.

GD it, @Epic for the Summer ! Why are all these NYC wrestling shows happening a few weeks before I'm supposed to visit my brother for his birthday!?

I have all my alarms set for this one. I'm going to make sure I get tickets for this, and I plan to get one to bring my daughter to her first NJPW show.

Inoki is wheelchair bound? Is this a new development? He always looked in great shape whenever he turned up on TV in the last few years.

Age old question: is Inoki's WWF title reign recognized?

He had some videos released a year or 2 ago of him in physical therapy and it didn't look good.

2 - Probably depends on who you ask. WWE changed their mind on that for at least a hot minute years ago.
Technically Greg Valentine is a claimant too. Bobby Duncum was involved in a match where the title was "held up" until the rematch.
So.... Backlund might be a 4 time WW(W)F champ.
