Question of the Day 5/21: What Band(s) Do You Like From a Genre You Typically Dislike?

Really not a big fan of country even on the female singer side but I've always liked Garth Brooks. Also have just never gotten into death metal (I just can't do the Cookie Monster style growls for 95% of the song tbh) but I haven't minded Cannibal Corpse or Celtic Frost. If I do try to venture into death metal it's usually the melodic/industrial/symphonic sub-genres of which I already like from their respective non-metal genres.

Not a big fan of electronic music but fucking loved the Prodigy. I never got into Crystal Method, Chemical Bros. and the like.

I can't stand Power Metal, but Helloween's Keeper Of The Seven Keys (Parts 1 and 2) and Walls Of Jericho rule.

I hate a lot of modern pop music, but Sophie's album Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides is incredible. Just so much more unique and interesting than the usual pop music, so of course she dies falling off a building and can't make any more albums.

Ska is another genre I don't like, but the ska parts of the album Fuck World Trade by Leftover Crack are amazing.

I've blown a fee coworkers' minds when I was listening to a playlist that included Modest Mouse, the Postal Service, Iggy Pop, First Aid Kit, New Model Army, and the Cure.

So I guess my answer is post-punk and indietronica. I eat that shit up whenever I need to chill out.
