Geoff apparently told that Kojima couldn't show up by Konami. Apparently they were ready and willing to use a clause in Kojima's exit contract if he did.

Like wow. If that isn't the biggest fuck you. Don't think I'll be purchasing any games released by Konami now. Oh wait, they don't release them anymore. Still though, fuck them.

I thought The Game Awards was an alright show. Fewer hiccups than last year. There were a couple of moments involving Jade Raymond, which just reminded me of her kinda-awkward time on The Electric Playground (with Geoff Keighley, incidentally).

A few other things from the show:

• Psychonauts 2 Fig crowd-funding campaign launched
• Rock Band VR from Harmonix and Oculus. No clear idea of what it is, beyond playing in a band on a stage in VR, but it's coming in about a year.
• Shadow Complex Remastered coming next year to PC, Xbox One, PS4. Or download it now for free via the Epic launcher. The free offer ends at the end of December.
• Rocket League is coming to Xbox One. It will not support cross-platform play, though.

There's some new restrictions on trading Steam items.

• Anyone losing items in a trade will need to have a Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator enabled on their account for at least 7 days and have trade confirmations turned on. Otherwise, items will be held by Steam for up to 3 days before delivery.
  
• If you've been friends for at least 1 year, items will be held by Steam for up to 1 day before delivery.
  
• Accounts with a Mobile Authenticator enabled for at least 7 days are no longer restricted from trading or using the Market when using a new device since trades on the new device will be protected by the Mobile Authenticator.

The Xbox One wireless controller adapter that came out recently will now work in Windows 7 & 8.1. It previously only worked in Windows 10.

I picked up Star Wars Force Unleashed for the PS3 this afternoon. After getting the updates downloaded, I decided to flip through the instruction manual. The manual felt particularly stiff when pulling it out of the case, but it was a used copy, so I figured maybe it had water damage or something. No, the disc for COD: MW2 was stuck in the middle of the book. Score.

For a little while this afternoon, Steam's websites had some issues with caching, where it would appear as though you were logged in as someone else. This led to some users' personal info being seen by others. If you weren't using Steam websites while logged in this afternoon (between roughly 3-6 PM EST, maybe?), I don't think you were at risk of getting caught up in this.

"As a result of a configuration change earlier today, a caching issue allowed some users to randomly see pages generated for other users for a period of less than an hour. Rocket League's Snow Day mutation is just Rocket League with a giant hockey puck. It is considerably harder than the normal game but all the more rewarding for a good play.

I wish there were HD remakes of the Mutant League games, if only for the novelty of sacking a QB by crushing their head in or a hooking call because you ripped off the opposing player's foot. That kind of over-the-top excess with modern gameplay would be fun.

Trans Galactic Tournament was my introduction to MOBA games. It's also one of the few games I've deleted.

So I'm looking to finally upgrade from my 4 year old Nexus 7. I'm looking at the Nvidia Shield K1 tablet. I don't really give much of a shit about the gaming aspects, but the specs look pretty good for a $200 tablet. Anybody have any experience with it?

Rise of the Tomb Raider is out Jan 28 on Windows PC. Does not seem to require Windows 10, but will be sold on the Windows 10 Store, and supposedly use some DirectX 12 features.

It's also $70 CAD on Steam, rather than the $85 it could've potentially been with the current loonie.

New subscription program from EA/Origin called Origin Access. $5/month for full PC games, pre-release trials, and 10% off Origin purchases. The collection of games in "The Vault" is pretty decent, and if it's like the Xbox One version, I think they'll only add more to it—rather than being cycled in and out like PS+ or Games with Gold.
