The riff at 1:18. Good God.

I saw GNR two weeks ago in Bethlehem, PA. I know that they've played "Civil War" at pretty much every show they done for the last two years or so, and so I was hoping/expecting they would play it at that show, since I had never heard it live. They did not play it. :(

The last two minutes of this are real as fuck.

I listened to that Oran Jones album a couple weeks back and was disappointed that "The Rain" was the only good song on it.

I have to agree with the OP. That guitar riff gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.

I found the Civil War single on tape years ago at a flea market. I listened to it at least 10 times a day for a few months at that time. I still rock it every once in a while. Such an awesome song and one of their more underrated tracks. That riff alone is worth rocking the song.

3:17 on. When this kicks in, my jaw still drops over how perfect it all is. Definitely one of the best riffs of all time, and it's built up so well that...words can't even do it justice for me.

I was really disappointed with Muse's stuff. I got their discography because I was so impressed with Knights of Cydonia and Uprising....but those were the only two tracks of the lot which I liked. Still, it didn't sully either of the two aforementioned songs. I defy anyone not to floor their gas pedal at 4:13.

And 4:16 here routinely wows me. Holy cow.

The whole song is anger management in a nutshell for me, but especially when it kicks into another gear at 1:54:

I think this performance was pretty soon after his mom died.
