A very reliable source close to Duke Nukem Forever developer 3D Realms today confirmed to Shacknews that the company has been shut down. The closure came about as a result of funding issues, our source explained, with the shut down said to affect both 3D Realms and the recently resurrected Apogee name. Employees of both entities have already been let go.

Well, I guess it's *possible* somebody may buy them up and get DNF finished (after all, it *is* in the "polishing" phase). However, those 3 of you still with your framed, yellowing, DNF preorder tickets may want to get them out and get ready to cancel.

Doesn't shock me. I mean if you don't do anything for years does it still make you a company? Like there's an old man in my town who opens up his butcher shop everyday. He hasn't sold meat since I moved here 9 years ago. He probably hasn't sold it long even before then. Is he still a butcher?

Hopefully this way a beta will be leaked or some company will even sell a version of it online. It would be worth the play through to see what they were doing.
