I've lost all faith in 2016.

George Michael was the first (real) concert I ever attended. I was like 6 or 7 and it was the Faith tour. We had floor seats and I could see him! It was so magical. All of my favorite songs, even some WHAM! songs were performed. For "Monkey" they had audience participation sing a long.

Let's be fair, my older neighbor wanted to gobble George's knob and probably her overplaying of his music is what influenced me. Either way, I got several 33 vinyl singles as gifts during that time of his music. Later I got the full album on cassette. I had a poster of him playing the guitar. I found the "Father Figure" video VERY disturbing, even then, but I loved the song in and of itself.

I look back at some of it, I still love the music, but I'm surprised my parents were as supportive as they were considering how demoralizing they became on anything I happened to like. I'm not going to say this ruined Christmas, I was already in a shitty mood when this news hit my phone. But it definitely sucks.

I don't know what caused his death, but I hope his estate and loved ones can put forth funds to support research and/or prevention, publicly or privately.

I guess this will be his Last Christmas.

Nah, this joke may pop up next Christmas - especially because now they are saying heart attack that can be worked into the song.

You couldn't escape this version when it came out, but it is still my favorite vocal duet (live or recorded) of all time.

I don't think people realize how popular he was from like 1987-1990 unless you were alive for it. My cousin Renee was in love with him and had posters of him all over her bedroom walls when she was a teenager. His videos were constantly on MTV and he was arguably the biggest rock/pop star in the world at one point during this time. And if he wasn't he was damn close.

RIP

His collaboration with Queen covering "Somebody to Love" at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert was pretty damn amazing.

Same here. I was alive for it, and my young teenage babysitter and her girlfriends loved George Michael......and that's how I became a fan. Not like I was the biggest fan or anything, but he had some catchy pop tunes, and girls of that generation......I was born in late 81.....girls my age and a bit older were nuts for him
