In the dark corners of the GOP offices they know Abortion is a major fund raising tool, so the money may sneak in yet and put a stop to this.

It overturns abortion rights at the federal level & moves it to GOP favorite "states rights", so it'll stay a major fundraising tool.

The money will keep flowing because the next step is to really "own the libz" with a national ban. They already have a hard on just imagining some 20 year old California E-girl being denied an abortion in LA or San Francisco.

I'm angry and don't know what to do about it. I'm a straight white male in a red state and outnumbered as fuck. I can count on one hand the people I can openly complain to and I'm married to one and the other is her sister. Even the women I've counseled through their decisions (and offered to drive them because, "look I know where we live and who we're surrounded by, if you need a lift, don't hesitate to ask") are probably going to publicly express neutrality or support. I'm basically resigned to bitching about it on the internet because no matter how blue I vote...this.

the entire tone of that article is terrible, beyond any amusing connection between the horse med angle. VICE putting out a video teaching people how to self-abort (even with warnings and vetting which is far more than you got from right wing wackos generally) is certainly open to criticism.

For lack of a better comparison and just writing in the moment, how feasible in 2023 would shared transportation be for financially unstable women needing abortions? In my mind I'm thinking an underground railroad situation where allies would help a pregnant person with minimal resources get from an unfriendly state to a friendly state. I might not be able to drive as far as the Louisiana/Arkansas border in my car, but maybe someone in Arkansas can then meet up and get the person to Missouri. From there, Illinois. She gets the procedure done and then we reverse order to get her home, maybe even different allies do the bring home set up. I know there would have to be a LOT of vetting. All kinds of shitty people could infiltrate that. And then there's the whole legal aspect of going to a different state, I have a feeling someone on the right would try to apply the laws where a person in an age of consent is 18 state brings a 16 year old to a different state for illegal things to a traveling abortion volunteer. Hell even if we started a charity in a friendly state for the sole purpose of bus/plane/train fare for a poor person.

We gotta be able to do something?

I was on a trip in 2007 with an elderly relative who wanted to talk football with me and referred to Jamarcuss Russel as "that black the Raiders drafted..." and another airport patron, black guy, just looked up in disbelief. From what I could tell from his body language he went from shocked, saw it was an old person, saw my horror, then just shook his head and went back to reading. THANK YOU FOR NOT BEATING US UP SIR!

I threw a video up on my snap account of a musician that is very left leaning and also an army vet. He's ranting how he's glad he went to Afghanistan to fight an oppressive religious government that shits on women's rights to come home to the same bullshit. Waiting on one of the right wingers at work to give me shit.
