So, after recommendations from several friends, (and taking advantage of a $30 Wal-Mart card + price matching), I decided to invest in the Spyro's Adventures Starter Set ($23) last night. Anyone else here give it a chance yet? It's pretty fun, if maybe a little overly childish in parts. Though this is understandable considering the target audience. I've picked up 4 extra figures just to add a little variety to the gameplay, and though it seems a little easy in parts, it's a fun time waster. One of the figures I picked up, "Ghost Roaster", is apparently one of the sought-after short packed figures, so I guess I made out pretty well there.

Possibly the greatest cash cow ive seen in a game market.

Lets have a game where people NEED to buy the toys to have more characters in game. And the kids LOVE the little fuckers.

Brilliant marketing.

I agree 100%. This is probably from a company that wished they came up with Pokemon. There's even a plot device explaining why the Skylanders are in figure form in our world. It's brilliant. I'm 31, and think it's a neat idea, but if I were 10 or so, I know I would be going insane for these things.

It is a brilliant idea. I haven't played Giants, but the first one is actually a good game, if a little easy. There were times, though, that I underestimated the enemies and tried to blaze through and promptly died. Of course I just loaded another toy up.
