I bought the re-release of this classic 1993 SNES game for the Wii at Walmart, recently, and I gotta tell ya. It's been a great for nostalgia purposes as much as anything. I also have the original versions of the 4 games on this famous 1993 SNES compilation which is now on disc for the Wii, exclusively at Walmart. (From what I heard, at least.)

Almost bought it at Target but decided to wait and see if anyone got it for me instead as a gift.

Got it for free by mailing in the proof of purchase from an SNES. Both still work.

Are they still selling the Collectors version with the CD and booklet? That's the one I picked up last year.

Yeah, that "Five Free Games!" was what sold my brother and parents on getting an SNES instead of a Genesis on Christmas '93. I feel sorry for anyone who paid for the cartridge.

Also I vividly remember that SMAS arrived in the mail on the same day the Bushwackers appeared on Family Matters.

I remember when our parents gave us an SNES for Christmas, it came with both Super Mario World and Super Mario All-Stars.

We didn't get a Super Nintendo until really late in it's life cycle. But the upside was that by then they'd consolidated Super Mario World into the All-stars cart, which our system came with. Played the shit out of that cart, and I really wish the Wii release had been of that one with World as well.

World is such a great game. I think I'd have a hard time not calling it my favourite out of all of them. I'm humming the main song right now!

I'll always think that the SMAS versions of the 4 games as superior, because of the character designs, backgrounds, music, etc. But, the originals will always be more challenging than the revamps.

Yeah, World is definitely my favourite Mario game (arguably my favourite game of all time). If anything I'm slightly pissed that they based (and appear to be keep basing the New Super Mario bros games off Mario 3 rather than World.

I think they're still selling it. I know I got my collectors edition with the booklet, a month or so ago.
