Take me to another place: Civil unrest (and a sneak preview of fascist theocracy?) in Tennessee

Tennessee Is in a funny spot right now. They're courting major IT and biotech companies to use Nashville as a base of operations, but they're also trying to argue against those companies bringing in their kind of people (who swing left on key issues). Most of the locals I interact with are lifelong GOP voters, but almost all of the ones I've talked with end up agreeing on issues that are normally reserved for Dem/leftist/progressive positions.

What I'm trying to say is that the buckle of the Bible Belt is turning more and more purple, and these things are going to happen more frequently.

TN outside of Nashville, Memphis, and the tiniest part of Knoxville is full of Republican trash. Which I guess is pretty standard all over the country, but the shift is really stark and immediate.

There was also a report not that long ago that showed a big chunk of the new people the city's gotten in the past few years are conservatives trying to get away from commie California. So I don't have a lot of hopes for a purple TN anytime soon.

I'm running into more people from the northeast lately, just outside Nash, and the locals are becoming more and more disillusioned with the GOP.

There's still a surplus of neocon shyte, but they're becoming more afraid to go all in on a lot of the rhetoric these days.

Likely. I have a laugh every so often when I remember how many complete imbeciles I graduated with, knowing that my school system is one of the best in the country (ranked #1 a few times), and how that means people elsewhere are even dumber.
