Kurt Cobain would have turned 46 yesterday.

he would've celebrated by doing a smells like teen spirit remix with 2Chainz so it's a great thing that he's dead for any fans of him out there.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/breaking/chi-billy-corgan-sells-gold-coast-condo-20130215,0,6267098.story

Rocker Billy Corgan has sold one of his two Chicago-area properties, a vintage, 3,700-square-foot condominium unit on the Gold Coast for $2.5 million, records show.

The Smashing Pumpkins lead singer and chief songwriter had spent more than four years trying to sell his in-town condo, which he bought in 2002 for $2.95 million. His main residence is a mansion on Lake Michigan in Highland Park that he bought in 2003 for $6.8 million.

The renovated, full-floor Gold Coast condo unit most recently had been listed for $2.85 million. He first listed it for $5.5 million in September 2008. He subsequently reduced his asking price to $4.35 million, $3.875 million and $3.55 million before dropping it to $2.85 million in June 2011.

there's no such thing as a corgan/cobain thing, please don't misinterpret the past twenty years of music history like all emaciated rock journalists do and create a story where there isn't one. Do not sully the name of Kurt Cobain by comparing him to that powder looking motherfucker

I'm glad Cobain is dead since it led to the birth of a real band like The Foo Fighters.

I can't speak for Billy Corgan, but I would much rather be alive and pathetic than dead but revered. Also, Siamese Dream is better than any one Nirvana album.

Yeah, but that's not the point. Of course everyone would rather be alive, but if C Wasn't M, I doubt he would have become the tool that Corgan has. He might have stopped making good music, but he was always mad real. Corgan's a self-absorbed rock star to a gross degree.

You may be right about Siamese Dream. In Utero and Unplugged are both great but some of the 'bigger' tracks on Dream are just too creative and engaging for me to ignore.

Yeah, I thought it was played out to say Nevermind wasn't a great album.

I'd argue that "In Utero" is a better album, but yeah, "Nevermind" is pretty solid.

I wouldn't say great, but all three of Nirvana's albums are good. It's easy to come to this conclusion without having to think about the deification of Cobain.

I always liked In Utero but never thought it was better than Nevermind. Some of the album tracks on the former are just... there.

Uhhhhh.... Zeitgeist and Oceania are pretty great. He hasn't fallen off at all. Also, Billy Corgan is a known wrestling fan. It's not surprising he'd do something like that.

They both stink but this music isn't for me or my demographic so I'm gonna stop visiting this dumb thread.

Even a bonus point for this amazing commercial couldn't put Mr. Teargarden by Kaleidyscope over the top.

EDIT: Also, Krist Novoselic would beat the shit out of James Iha in a fight, and Dave Grohl is still prettier than D'Arcy.

If those are all five star songs, you're way more generous than me. I'd go:

Billy:
Cherub Rock
1979

Kurt:
Serve The Servants
Scentless Apprentice
Dumb
Lounge Act
Drain You

Still a commanding win.

I'm very generous, and the nostalgic spectre of 15-year-old me is even more so.
