You know, I forgot how addicting and infuriating TEW is. Working as a regional Japanese promotion right now and while I'm doing fine and still making money, that's really only thanks to the TV deal I have right now. Stupid tsunami wiped out the economy and industry, making it damn hard to earn even pennies. Seriously think I would've gone bankrupt if it wasn't for that deal.

Oh and also, fuck the game for continually trying to steal my wrestlers. I've been nurturing them, so I should get to reap the benefits dammit.

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

Seems that it is a story narrative to tank the Japanese market. Also comes just before Burning Hammer Of The Wrestling Gods gets hammered (pun intended) down to Cult as the traditionalist got pissed with them changing to a more modern type of product. And boy when it is tanked, it is tanked. :(

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

That's the time to strike as PGHW and be the shining light as the economy and industry bounce back. I'm guessing that you're WLW, since they have TV but an awful backstage. One thing that happens is that when Burning Hammer goes to Cult, they start to stock up on young, cheap talent.

If you're PGHW, sign Tom (Angry) Gilmore. And to help with national battles, go get Marat Khoklov. He's just on hiatus and the added starpower is needed. If you can, try to save up money and keep it tight, though. Later on, 21CW in England is destined to run themselves into the ground. You can buy them out and then take their popularity, PPV and TV deals.

Furthermore, think of starting an alliance with PGHW that also features TCW and NOTBPW. Select the consortium feature to offset the tsunami losses and then send your guys out on talent trades. Maybe you can also make the alliance work with WLW, too.

Thanks for these options. I seem to do better with Japanese products than I do with others. Not sure why that is. Also yeah, I'll need to prepare for that Cult thing next time because on that playthrough, you are right they did exactly that. Scooped up my entire main event scene and boom I went. I was actually GCG. I was doing alright until BHOTWG did that. It wasn't that I didn't have anyone, I just didn't have anyone who was ready for the top and I got smacked down. Not fun.

Though right now I'm creating my own Japanese federation before my next playthrough. Not sure why, but I felt like doing that. I'll try doing that alliance thing when I get to playing and seeing how it works out. Thanks a lot for the advice Medium.

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

Unless the newer entries really nerfed him hard, pick up Nemesis if you can. His stats (at least in '05) are incredible and he's an absolute workhorse/leader type.

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

Yeah in 2016 you can't hire Nemesis. He owns GSW, I think I recall.

There aren't too many guys you can hire that don't get scooped up by BHOTWG.They fucking nabbed Greg Gauge (Sam Keith's son) and the like.

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

One guy to shortlist from BHOTWG is KC Glenn, who is under the name Helikaon. Also, they nabbed Matthew Keith like jerks.

Nemesis is retired now, but in some games, he steps down from booking IPW. So it's fun to sign him up for PSW as a manager for his son, Ash Campbell. Ash is pretty good if you have the patience to develop him. He can deliver some good promos after giving him time before and/or after shows.

Another tip for developing charisma and microphone skills is to sign a natural on the mic, and put them in entertainment based angles with people who need improvement. You can think of them as an acting coach.

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

Since we might have just a bit of interest in the Cornellverse, here is a link to custom loading screens. There's also some real world loading screens, as well.

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

Oh, I was wondering where KC Glenn was at. BHOTWG wouldn't've been the place I would've seen him at. And yeah, I like the CornellVerse. It is more fun than just running with the real world stuff, because you need to mold the characters or get to know them.

Thanks about the entertainment skills, I didn't think on that. Pretty obvious when you do though. Guess I'll book a lot of talking segments pre-show. That shouldn't have much affect on the actual show % right?

Also, my created federation went from a minor thing to a thing in which I've almost got it fully fleshed out. Should be fun to see how that works out.

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

Fucking hell, trying to make this stupid federation viable after launching as a NPC company is a bitch. They keep hiring way too many high valued stars and spending far too much money.

Also hiring guys it really doesn't need to do. I'm worried that my owner's preference isn't work or something.

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

Oh yeah, when assigning owners to companies, you should take a look in the editor to see how they handle the money given to them. If this is a child company, consider making it a pure developmental company so that you have complete control over the roster, via send-downs.

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

Nah, this is a regional company that's got a weight split. I think my problem is that there isn't enough wrestlers, so it goes out and hires even more wrestlers to cover it up. Which in turn are the hottest stars out there, meaning way too much money being spent.

Yeah, just double checking by doing a brand split and I need around 10 more created wrestlers. Oh fun times.

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

Oh yeah, with weight splits, you wind up with bloated rosters. Doing a brand split plus a weight split? Yikes. You're best off just sorting people manually with divisions.

I took on a challenge with Mid Atlantic Wrestling. I'm about two years in and finally beginning to make a bit of money, due to pushing the user character of Jack Avatar. I got him up to about an 80 in popularity in the Mid Atlantic, which kind of makes him a Von Erich. Also, you can build him up to get that figurehead perk.

The challenge of the company is to only hire young, unemployed workers so that they can get work elsewhere and move on. Still, you have to hire a $1,000 PPA guy every now and then. But I did wind up signing a generated worker with 94 ratings in charisma, microphone and acting. The fun is that he's green, but decent and can perform a difficult gimmick. He's already rated at "very good" for his preacher gimmick. Hopefully, he gets the legendary status. Then, he gets the rocket before the SWF steals him from me.

One tip for MAW is to fire the garbage, and get guys for as cheap as possible while putting Greg Gauge over everyone in sight before he gets that Burning Hammer money.

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

No, the weight split for the AI acts like a brand split. So by doing a brand split while playing the roster I can figure out what the AI roster sizeis. Which is 31-39. Meaning the roster needs 10 more as I only have 26 created and bored. More or less figured out the other 10 wrestlers, just got to add them to the roster.

You know it is too bad you can't get some of Japan's youngsters. They are all ready to be good enough in ring that it would be great to bring them over.

Though you lucky man on the generated wrestler, haven't gotten a nice one like that yet.

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

In this game I'm running, cash-strapped TCW has run into strange times. The rest of their main event scene has been raided and their world champ is...Rudy Velasquez. He starts the game as an upper carder for FCW. Crazy.

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

??? Wow, that's something else. You would think TCW would be able to get themselves out of the mess they made, but honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if them and BHOTWG were gone in the next TEW. Seeing as both of them suffer greatly in the current TEW. Like, are they still at Cult? Wild.

Still can't get the AI version of my company to stop hiring guys. I had created 36 wrestlers and the company still went out to grab more characters. Guess I upgrade it from Regional to Cult status, because that's about the only way I can see it surviving. Edit: In my sleepy haze, I must've not realized I set both owner and booker to Very Large rosters. That would do it.

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

Okay, can someone please explain to me how to do storylines in TEW again? I can't seem to keep my storylines at the necessary heat needed to keep them running. Been playing non-storyline federations a little too much.

Re: TEW // Total Extreme Wrestling Management Simulator

Oh right, so with storylines, it's important to have one of the main players be a talker, or have a manager to help them with promos. Lot's of things work into segment ratings, too. For example, a worker having high momentum, high morale, and the locker-room being happy is a great way to score high segment grades. Turn the "dirtsheet" on to see just what is happening in each segment.

Also, tag team matches.

So I started thinking about making another company in TEW. Thinking it is like a kid who inherits his grandfather's small television company and decides to make a wrestling company the main focus of it. Building it in Canada because Canada has too few companies (might even make one more) and it is a very interesting product with Cult being very high so there's a very vocal fan base. It'll be interesting to see how it all works out.

Are y'all using the brand new TEW or an older one? Maybe we can make our own universe, share it, and see how everybody books it.

I'm working with the latest version myself. Could also just add onto the CornellVerse and try working your way upwards in it. That could be cool as well.

Since no one responded, how about we just all create federation for usage in the CornellVerse and try working our way to the top of it?

However, there are some caveats:

1) Each region will be defined by a way of wrestling. Japan is Realism, Mexico is Lucha, British Isles is Cult, USA is Mainstream, Canada is Traditional, Europe is Pure, and Australia is Daredevil. When picking a region, you must include one of these as a KEY feature.

2) We're all going to be just entering regional status with 250k for money. You'll have 3 regions with popularity.

3) We'll create the entire roster: 12 wrestlers, 1-2 managers, 1-2 referees, 1-2 broadcasters, 1-2 owners/bookers/road agents. These will come AFTER the promotions. So first we'll figure out our promotions, then we'll build a roster.

4) We'll get 1 "ace" for our company. That ace will be better than other characters on our rosters.

5) Unless we get tons of people joining up, no one can pick the same home spot. You can also decide if you want to have a working agreement or hostility with another company. If you choose hostility, park right beside the other company. You may also choose to become part of an alliance if you wish.

For people who want to play in Europe but don't like the fact that one single language doesn't work well, don't fret. I'll tweak that for us.

Here's the template for the companies should you wish to do this. I've got an example in place, this isn't the one I'll be doing.
---
Region: Europe
Home: France
Name: Guillotine Révolution Lutte

Product
Key - Traditional, Cult, Pure
Heavy - Realism
Medium - Mainstream, Hyper Realism
Low - Comedy
Very Low - None
None - Risque, Lucha, Modern, Hardcore
Match Ratio - Events: 90%, TV: 90%
Women's Wrestling - Division
T&A Levels - Low
Face\Heel Divide - Yes

Match Intensity and Danger will only be prescribed after the promotions once I find out how much it costs. By choosing France, this federation would bleed in popularity to Spain and Central Europe(I think).

So there you go. Let's see if anyone does this.
