The Minions really are a perfect kids' creation when you think about it...

#1: Great color scheme, easier to pick out in a crowd of characters
#2: Large, expressive eyes and an easy shape to follow. Incredibly unthreatening in concept.
#3: They aren't verbal or erudite so you don't have to worry about following the dialogue. Brains can fill in the gaps/easily follow the slapstick humor
#4: It's classic slapstick humor harkening back to Looney Tunes. I counted multiple previews before movies where adults chuckled/laughed at the on-screen antics.

Also, I'd add number 5...if you can sit through these films not under the influence of some greenery, kudos to you.

I actually checked out Minions 1 for the first time recently and....hey I'll admit it, I fucking enjoyed it. Granted, I was deep in a sativa haze.....but still. I thought the first one overextended into a totally mindless but funny flick.

Unfortunately, the sequel didn't bring much that the first film had, but there were moments. Ultimately though, it didn't entertain nearly as much as the first one did.

Can't really comment on any of the Despicable Me films, but considering the Minions films are (I think?) essentially prequels to the other ones in the franchise, I'm half ass considering watching them now, perhaps blunted.

Yep, it's summer, I have too much time on my hands, and I'm stretching for ideas!

I still think the 1st Despicable Me holds up pretty well. The 2nd is fine and the 3rd I can't really remember anything about tbh.

The only thing I know about Minions is that boomers liked to use them in memes on Facebook

I know it's "only" 260K, but Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness still being in the Top 10 at the box office two weeks after hitting streaming has got to be seen as a win, right?

That's quite a drop for "Love and Thunder"

"Paws of Fury" was originally titled "Blazing Samurai", and has been taken off schedule and shuffled around a lot. Here's a history of that.

Paws of Fury looked dreadful, like a straight-to Disney+ bad animated flick so I was curious at what it'd open to. I didn't expect that low though!

I'm surprised there wasn't more boomer outrage over a family friendly, vaguely ethnic remake of Blazing Saddles but I guess that idea was so bad that nobody even noticed it

This is the first time in a while an A24 release hasn't released a horror film as a wide release in a while (or at least "Saint Maude" due to the pandemic). I actually wonder if it's due to "Men", which got more positive than negative reviews, but is the first wide release genre film from them from that didn't get overwhelming praise from critics, and actually got good to fair criticism in how it handled it's subject and themes (I for one was not a fan)
