Anybody else heard of/seen?

Checked it today on the strength of the reviews it was getting and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Jeremy Renner and Anthony Mackie are both excellent in the leads and the smattering of supporting actors throughout the movie are good too. I don't know if I'd call it an action movie or a drama because it certainly has moments of both but switches back and forth too much to really decide. The explosions and action is very well done, particularly the bombs. They are, in this movie what bullet's are in a Michael Mann flick.

Definitely worth seeing, Renner is going to get attention come awards time and maybe Mackie too.

God this can't come to Dayton soon enough.

I do see "moon" is playing in Yellow Springs though.

I saw this about a month or 2 ago and I thought it was a really good movie too. I felt it gave a decent look into what it would possibly be like to do something like that for a living and the tolls it would take on a person mentally and personally.

Yeah, it was a fantastic human condition piece, and a very unique way to do a "war movie" of sorts for sure. It's felt extremely authentic if a person would be probably over in the Middle East, even to this day. Because of the social and political relevance to our real life current situation with our troops, I expect a lot of good buzz to continue through the year on this one. Alot more very unique and out of the norm introspection on alot of the characters as well, particularly the lead. Probably right up there with Moon as my favorite film of the year, both for completely different reasons. Wouldn't be shocked for this to not just get nominated for Best Picture at the '10 Oscars, but get it as the best of the year.

Very good movie. My only complaint is that for all of the "best picture of the year, so far" talk, an awful lot seemed familiar.
The guy who would rather be at dangerous job than at home with his wife & kid.
Flipping out over that kid's death, and it turns out he's not dead.
The shrink who might as well be named Dr. Deadmeat.

This isn't to dissuade anyone from seeing it, I just wish It hadn't been built up so much in my mind before I saw it.

Just saw it tonight. Very good movie.

Jeremy Renner should get some Oscar love for his performance.

I saw it last Friday, and I loved it. Really made up for what's been largely a let down as far as Summer movies are concerned.

Finally saw this and it's as intense a film as I've seen, since "No Country For Old Men". The kind where I could feel something was coming and I had to look to the edges of the screen, that kind of tenseness. THAT is when i know a film is working for me.

Two minor quibbles:

ENOUGH with 'shakey cam', it's becoming almost of a cliche for portraying "gritty realism" as the guy running away from a fireball in action flicks. I mean, Spielberg got gritty realism in "Saving Private Ryan" without acting like he had Parkinson's.

Not that I'm blaming her from taking the role, but it is a bit jarring to see Evangiline Lilly pop at the end as the girlfriend, moreso than even Ralph Finnes playing a merc who gets capped after 5 minutes of screentime

I hope major consideration is given to Renner for Best Actor, Mackie for Supporting Actor, Bigelow for Director and of course Best Picture.
