what do you see here that is the opposite that's grating? Mostly what I see here is people being irreverent and not really caring, I wouldn't say that's hte opposite. For me that would be like full on hatred for the queen herself. Maybe I missed some posts.

RIP to the queen. Truly global figure, seemed to be loved by many. Lived till 96, we should all be so lucky.

I hate the institution and what it stands for. The Queen herself was no better or worse than most mega-rich people. Her sheltering of her kids from any consequences (cough Andrew) is an obvious example of something really bad. I don't think she deserves the praise she's getting but as a human being she doesn't deserve the condemnation of a Trump or Thatcher.

That said it's fun to see social media coming together for once and again, as an institution the Monarchy is the worst. It needs to go.
