Anyone done this with them before? I want to get RB3 but it's not out for another couple of weeks. Anyone used placeholders with them before?

I used to look forward to this every year in the PS2/Xbox days and those were still some of my favorite times getting this deal.

I last did this deal in 2008, as I didn't bother last year. I bought placeholders and traded them out no problem. As a matter of fact, one game I bought, I ended up switching for another game at a Toys R Us in another city which had lower tax and they not only changed my game, but gave me some change back as a refund for the tax difference.

Typically the best sale around. Last year, I guess Best Buy did it too a week or so later but I don't know if they will this year after the money they lost on the glitch (it was taking out the middle scanned game free so some people were buying a $60 new release with two $5 games and walking out with all three for $10).

hahaha. I read about that. Wish I would have tried it.

I'll probably end up getting Madden 10, GH: Warriors of Rock, and a placeholder so I can pick up RB3 when it comes out.

Yeah. I can't think of anything to get on it this year. I got really good deals on a bunch of upcoming games on Amazon (I had coupon codes that knocked stuff like Fable 3 down to $44.xx plus it comes with a $20 credit for a future game). I think for stuff like Warriors of Rock, I am going to wait to either get it for Christmas or pick it up on a Black Friday-like sale. There were a ton of games last year that were put on sale from $60 to $30-$40, which is about the price you get them for on this sale.

Damn! Why couldn't they wait a few weeks. I really wasn't that interested in New Vegas, considering I got Fallout 3 at release, and yet only just completed it yesterday. But I think I might use the placeholder deal to get NBA2k11, FO: New Vegas, and SDvsRAW for 40.

Damn just realized Sims 3 and Fable 3 come out on the 26th as well. With all these new releases, that's the week they should have done this. Oh well, looks like I'll be switching FO for one of these 2.

It does seem early this year but that may be because the 26th is so loaded. Fable, Sims, Smackdown vs RAW plus I want to say there are is at least one other thing on that day too.

I always associate this sale with Halloween because I remember the first year doing this I got Smackdown: HCTP, Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the PS2. I remember getting home and playing Smackdown and then trying Turtles, only for my Turtle to have a pumpkin head because of one of those internal clock things on the PS2, like the games that featured Christmas characters on Christmas day.

I can definitely see why they bumped it up looking at the releases for the 26th alone. Star Wars Force Unleashed II was the other big one I was blanking on for 10/26. So five fairly popular, established franchises on the 26th. Rock Band, Fable, Star Wars, Sims and Smackdown plus some fairly popular lower level titles like new Monopoly, Family Game Night, Bakugan, Cabela's along with the new Tony Hawk Shred and Shaun White Skateboarding.

I don't believe so because I don't think you have the option of putting more than the deposit down on the game at Toys R Us. Not positive though. You are probably better off just getting something with a gift receipt to exchange at a later date, unless the game comes out after the return period. I think Toys R Us has 90 days, so unless you are looking for a 2011 release, you have a decent window.

Preorders don't count.

There really isn't anything on 360 I really want, so I'll probably get some DS games I've been meaning to get (the new Prof. Layton and Dragon Quest to name a few).

Those like me who were waiting to see if Best Buy was going to do this again this year, you may want to hop on Toys R Us today for the last day.

The week of 10/24, which would be the week they'd probably do it, Best Buy is doing the sale on SELECT titles only. The select titles are still pretty good, but I have a lot preordered super cheap already:

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II
$59.99 $39.99 Collectors Edition $79.99
(with collectible trading card to unlock Sith Acolyte costume)

Fable III
$59.99 Collectors Edition $79.99
(Best Buy exclusive Crystal Tattoo Set and Channeler Sword)

Smackdown vs. Raw 2011
$59.99 $49.99
(Best Buy exclusive unlockable Bret "The Hitman" Hart)

Shaun White Snowboarding
$59.99 $49.99
(Best Buy exclusive 3 in game Circus Freak Characters)

Medal of Honor
$59.99

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
$59.99

Sims 3
$59.99 $29.99

Sims 3: Late Night
$39.99 Deluxe Edition $49.99

FIFA 11
$59.99

NBA 2K11
$59.99

NHL 11
$59.99

Disney: Sing it w/ Mic
$49.99

Club Penguin Game Day
$49.99

Tony Hawk Shred
$99.99

Lego Universe
$39.99

They probably limited these due to their computer error last year.

Whew. I ended up going today and getting Madden 11, GH: Warriors of Rock, and NBA 2K11. I plan on trading in 2k11 for RB 3 in a couple weeks.

...maybe its just me, but why the hell have GH and RB? I mean, I've personally always found RB to be a more "well rounded" music game in that I feel like I'm playing the instrument I'm supposed to be playing whereas in GH, I've missed notes because I know the guitar on it but it doesn't synch up in game.

I like having both. I have every GH minus the 1st one (because it's not available for the 360) and Smash Hits. I have RB 2 and want to get RB 3 in case I get one of the new guitars.
