I like the newish Nick Jonas song. I first saw the video on MTV a couple days ago flipping through the channels at like 7 A.M. My first reaction was "Wait, MTV still plays video even at bullshit off hours like this!?" My second reaction was like "Which marginal NBA player is playing against Nick Jonas in this?" (Turns out it's no one notable although Bosh would have been great as a secondary bully in a solo Jonas video) Third reaction was "Wow, I kind of like this"

Not sure if he's parodying or paying homage to Kanye West's recent videos.

I love white guys hanging out with gospel choirs. There's also an inexplicable R rated remix. C'mon, Jonas!
I've been getting more into current pop music recently and I'll share my thoughts on this thread.

I can't remember the exact moment I became the same grumpy old man I used to roll my eyes at on the internet when I was around 14 or 15, but it definitely happened within the past five years. Maybe even earlier.

Still, there are usually, at least, five Top 40 songs every year that I actually like. I never buy any of them off of iTunes, but if I hear them on the radio I won't change the station.

I just quit the job that forced me to listen to top 40 radio regularly, but I would like to say that the Taylor Swift song currently occupying the number one position on the Billboard chart is terrific.

Personal highlight of 2015; the morning DJ on the local oldies station (who is also casual friends with my dad) said after he played Katrina & The Waves' "Walking on Sunshine", "If you like this song, you got to check out the new song by Bruno Mars called 'Funk You Up'! It's very similar!"

No idea why this amused me as much as it did.

I really like Mars' "Uptown Funk." It's been a long time since someone was able to capture that James Brown/Prince essence in a Top 40 song. I don't know much about Mars, but I also didn't mind his (canned) Super Bowl performance, either. Maybe if mainstream music could be more like that I'd be less of a "get off my porch" kind of guy.

I like the new Major Lazer song that's been on the radio but apparently they're yet another group of white people strongly influenced by Jamaican music which irks some (see Magic!, Snow, UB40, No Doubt, etc.).
