Well, its that time of year that we all get merry, jolly and feel good about the year that has passed and look forward to the year in the future. With that said, we're going to celebrate the year of 2010 in gaming with our own awards!
I know what you are about to say, "but Mistleflik, the year isn't over yet." Don't worry, we won't do voting until January 1st. But I felt the need for setting up the awards first.
Now then, the categories that I figure we should have!

If you guys can think of anything to add, then do so. Also, I was thinking that for voting we should let everyone vote on 3 games, and the top 3 games from those votes that get tallied then go on to try for the crown, because not everyone's going to have the same ideas about games, so we'll end up with a really diverse amount of votes.
You'll probably wonder why I have categories that sort of go together and you might even feel redundant, but I'll explain. Game Play and Mechanics mean two entirely different things. Game Play is the whole of the game and its play. How it handles, etc. Mechanics refers to the little trick that makes a game different, like Bayonetta's Hair Combat and stuff like that. The "gimmick", if you will.
Visuals and graphics also mean two separate things. Visuals is how visually appealing a game is. Do all the visuals work together? Do you feel that you can buy into what you are seeing as it is. Graphics just mean how pretty the game the looks, regardless of if the visuals don't work together at all.
Best sound is the sound as a whole. So from the whoosing of the wind, to the song of someone's death, to the annoying voice acting that is like nails on a chalk board. Best sound track is well, just how the music is in the game. Would you want to listen to it outside of the game? And single track is the best single track of any game that you've heard. BTW, all music/rhythm games would be eliminated from these categories.

The Rules For Nominations
Each poster will have a total of 3 nominations for a selection of games that they think fit these categories. These nominations will be tallied and on December 31st, the Top 3 nominations in each category will then face off for the right to be crowned the winner of that category. Now while a poster has 3 nominations, that does not mean that he needs to use all 3. If you've only played one game in that specific category, then by all means, only put up one vote.
Any games released from Christmas of last year till this year Christmas Eve are able to be used. So go freaking nuts. Again, nominations end on December 30. The real voting between your chosen 3 in each category will begin on December 31st.
