I am a huge fan of the original movie and just found out the prequel series "First Day of Camp" got put up on Netflix this weekend. Thinking I am going to watch all eight episodes tonight.

Post your thoughts of the cult classic film or the new Netflix series here!

Five episodes through and it's really funny with at least 3-4 huge laughing fit moments per episodes. The Roger Sterling theater storyline and the Fat Coop/Lake Bell/David Wain love triangle kinda drag. Still, I love what they did with Elizabeth Banks' character and everything Paul Rudd, Chris Meloni, and Ken Marino do is amazing.

Highlights so far are Coop chasing after Kevin, the opening of Episode 2, Anything Jon Hamm, the brief cameo of the indoor kids, the Abby Bernstein gag, the Gene/Victor chase, Roger Sterling fucking up his sommersault, that glass shattering sound, H. Jon Benjamin's tragic death, and a lot more I'm forgetting.

It's remarkable how little the cast has aged aside from Showalter (hilariously), Zac Orth, and Janeane. Obviously, Paul Rudd and Elizabeth Banks are vampires, but Katie, the "lube for my pussy" nurse, joe lo truglio, ken marino all look the same.

I watched the whole run last night and stayed up too late doing so. I can't help but feel underwhelmed. I got a few decent laughs but it just came across as something completely unnecessary to me.

I will probably have to give it a chance and do a re-watch but it didn't really have the same charm to me as the movie.

Here's me 8 years from the last post finally finishing First Day Of Camp and starting Ten Years Later.

For First Day Of Camp, I didn't care at all for the stuff with the kids, and I thought Paul Rudd's stuff missed this time watching. That said, it was still pretty damn funny. Highlights include Jon Hamm as The Falcon, Michael Showalter as President Reagan, and anything Ken Marino does is hilarious. Chris Meloni and Zak Orth crack me up regularly as well. Elizabeth Banks' character shift was hilarious and added so much to the movie's lore. David Hyde Pierce was wowfully misused though. He sort of gets lost in how many funny characters are in the first movie, but he's great. There's this part that I just noticed where he's doing the goofiest run ever in the background that was amazing. This line delivery also makes me laugh ever time

Started 10 Years Later. Love how they explained recasting Bradley Cooper with Adam Scott. Also love that my man Zak Orth is getting more to do. The rando characters being there, and everyone acting like they've been there all along is a fun gag as well. I love using clips of the movie, and awkwardly putting them in. Paul Rudd's storyline is great this time around. Skylar Gisondo has been a scene stealer for a while and now he's gonna be in Superman and Jimmy olsen. Him and Rudd have great chemistry.

Also, I'll give Janeane a shout out too, she gets overshadowed by a lot of the cast, but she is really fun in both the movie and the series. And lastly, I'm usually not a Michael Ian Black fan, but he's really funny as George H.W. Bush and has cracked me up as McKinley throughout.

Ten Years Later was kind of pointless, but I enjoyed some of the gags. They've beyond exhausted these characters though.
