I think Muraco/Orndorff was meant to be a hot upper card match to kick the show off and it def was connected to the Hogan attack Muraco aided in since Paul was Hogan's buddy. I'm surprised you didn't mention the racist eye slanting Orndorff did toward Fuji.

Seeing clips of Joe Frazier here, only 4 or 5 months after he ref'd Starcade made me wonder if Vince tried to get Ali back to be with Mr. T and recreate the Ali/Frazier dynamic. It also makes me wonder if the Dusty Rhodes vs. Joe Frazier post Starcade rumors were remotely true.

My childhood soft spot won't let me hate on the Steele/Savage feud.

I became a George Wells mark once I caught some TV matches with him from the Black Saturday era WWF. Drugs killed his career. Wells was a CFL player before hand and was one of Watts' attempts to recreate the JYD in Mid-South.

RE: T being blown up - Valentine or somebody joked in their shoot about working 20 minutes and coming back to the locker room and smoking, while Mr. T had 4 attendants surrounding him and an oxygen mask on.

Supposedly Velvet's strap broke and that's why Moolah went home so quickly.

The "Where's the Beef?" lady blowing her part was cute.

Apparently Ed "Too Tall" Jones had originally been scheduled to be in the Battle Royal (along with Lanny Poffo) but both were removed.

Bundy received $50,000 for headlining Wrestlemania 2.

Moolah stomping on Velvet's boob was probably unnecessary.

Velvet was pretty obviously an inch from a nip slip after she missed that dive.

Too Tall Jones was definitely scheduled to be a participant in the battle royal. I don't remember Lanny Poffo being announced for it but that's a possibility.

My stream was skipping. Muraco/Orndorff should have been better, but it wasn't long enough in any way and the crowd turned on the finish really badly.

By the end it looked like he was going to keel over.

LOL

Moolah going over still makes me angry, mostly in that she was 62 goddamn years old and parading around with the womens' title. If Moolah were more humble I would take it better, but she always presented herself as cock of the walk because she held a fake title for 35 years.

Re: Mr. T. He was on the NY portion of the card, so the other workers in the building would've been Savage, Steele, Orndorff, Muraco, Roberts, Wells and Piper. Only Piper went more than 8-10 minutes. And he loved to riff on Mr. T so I'm guessing it was him. I could see Orndorff or Muraco saying it though.

I like the Savage/Steele feud and match because it established the Savage/Elizabeth dynamite. Without that there's no Megapowers angle.

Windham and Rotunda were already getting flushed out of the top spot for the Bulldogs before Windham quit. But if they had stuck around where the heck do they fit in? The battle royal? A throw away match with a not yet pushed Hart Foundation?
Best I can come up with is having them be part of the troupe that saves Hogan after Bundy murders him on SNME and make a tag match w/ Orndorff and the US Express vs Adonis, Muraco and Orton Jr as the Hogan haters/Piper buddies
Rotundo can eat the pin or make it a schmozz finish.

I'm not sure Elmer can take a battle royal bump as sad as that is to say.
Can we make the worst 2 min match in history and have Arcidi beat him? Ope- Nope Ted's still a face here.

I like that six man tag idea. Give Elmer an even worse match...Duke Doherty, or swap him into the battle royal for a quick elimination and do Iron Sheik vs Uncle Elmer.

Reading about AWA experimenting with ppv, along with closed circuit, for Super Sunday 1983 reminded me that WM 2 aired on Showtime a couple months later. I think Showtime was affiliated with CBS at the time which makes the Hogan-Bundy angle on NBC kinda wild.

They also had NBC SNME deal at the same time as they signed with CBS for Rock N Wrestling toon

IIRC Turner gave Vince shit for being on USA while also on WTBS even though USA was 1st

One of my favorite stories is that Tuesday Night Titans annoyed Verne so much he bought TV time in Chicago so the AWA would be up against it.

Gagne had a great roster to do his own Tuesday Night Titans type show. Start in Chicago and seek a national cable slot. One good main event, 2-3 squashes, and let Okerlund, Heenan, Lord Alfred, and Larry Nelson mix and mingle with the Vachons, the Al Kaissie's Sheiks, Ventura, Raschke, etc, do sketches in bars with Bruiser and Crusher, send the High Flyers to the Oshkosh air show to demonstrate the dropkick, Adrian Adonis vs Dick Trickle in a snowmobile race.

WWF @ Boston, MA – Boston Garden – February 8, 1986 (16,180; sell out)
Televised on NESN – included Gorilla Monsoon & Jesse Ventura on commentary:
Lanny Poffo pinned Paul Christy with a moonsault at 9:56
Sivi Afi pinned Barry O at 7:41 with a flying bodypress
George Steele pinned Tiger Chung Lee at 5:24 after ramming him into the exposed middle turnbuckle
Hillbilly Jim defeated Big John Studd via count-out at 7:26 after Studd hit the steel ringpost
Randy Savage (w/ Miss Elizabeth) pinned WWF IC Champion Tito Santana to win the title at 10:29 after Savage hit Santana in the head with a foreign object while in the middle of a back suplex (History of the Intercontinental Title, The WWF’s Greatest Matches, History of the Intercontinental Championship, Macho Madness: The Ultimate Randy Savage Collection)
Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart defeated B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell at 15:41 when Bret, the illegal man, pinned Blair with an elbow drop from the middle turnbuckle
Ricky Steamboat pinned Don Muraco (w/ Mr. Fuji) in a Martial Arts Match at around the 17-minute mark with a reverse roll up; after the bout, Muraco attacked Steamboat with Fuji’s cane
Bruno Sammartino defeated Roddy Piper in a steel cage match at 8:40 by escaping through the door after beating Piper off him with a wooden chair; prior to the bout, Piper came to the ring wearing a Chicago Bears SuperBowl t-shirt and taped posters of William Perry and Jim McMahon to the sides of the cage (Inside the Steel Cage)

---
Let Steele and Savage tell their story over their MANY MANY SNME matches and put Savage/Tito on WM for a banger.

Bruno being an old fashioned dang gum it babyface vs Trans Adonis in NY set up by having some hard to watch now segments on TNT is another idea to make the show overall better in ring. (Or Orton Jr to play off the Piper angle)

Putting on a Bees/Harts match and letting them cook would be sort of heat-less but they wrestled 200 times so they'd probably win the crowd over with their well oiled spots.

They may as well done the Steamboat/Muraco blowoff in some form too.

Rebooking WM2 while watching the Super Bowl is peak Brody

I just learned today that on the West Coast, the NY and then Chicago parts weren’t shown until after the LA portion. What a weird, weird show.

Hogan wearing the WM 2 shirt as a bandana in the West Coast exclusive promo was an odd find. He and Ventura's back and forth felt a little different knowing the union stuff surrounding this show.

Does that mean the tag belts was the main event for West Coast?

Run Savage/Bruno in a sprint and move Steele kidnapping Liz to Wrestlemania to have a fuck finish while building houses with Steele.

Main event should've been Hogan/Muraco anyway. Opens the door for a really fun Adonis/Orndorff match.
